Has any found a supplier or company that has tobacco e-juice like or very similar to MFS Turbosmog, Tall Paul, or Red Luck?

Thanks for all the DYI tips. I am gonna try it. I know to start light and not over do it. I know I need to be patient and steep some flavors. I buy alien visions flue cured and pg bees knees and mix them 50/50 (love that stuff) ($102 for 200ml) but it is not cheap. The wife's gorilla juice will be much more difficult. My all day vape for 2 years was Boba's Bounty but the flavor is not there anymore. Grumpy's hooch was another I liked but that's about it so I shouldn't be too hard to please once I get started DYI. Thanks again ya'll

The other thing is that if you go to the DIY threads here on ECF and also another forum named ................. and search for your favorite juice, you may very likely find a recipe for a clone. I haven't tried the clone recipes since I'm not so wedded to any, but apparently some are very successful flavor duplications.

I didn't understand a word you said but I think you defined the KISS principle? :)

Oooops ... probably yes, KISS principle - I should refrain from being too elaborate (and losing the main point).

Yes I agree. I've noticed that the longer I vape the less I like the very strongly flavored juices I once thrived on. Not only do I not like them, they have become quite unpleasant.
I didn't realize there were that many vanillas out there.

Yes, same happened to me.

I’ve been using my new Apollo for the past couple of days and I have to say it’s been giving me one of the best vapes I’ve ever had. I’m still on my first build (a very simple single coil) and really want to try out other builds, but can’t bring myself to tear it out since I’m enjoying it so much. The airflow is just right – using it fully open with the solid center pin – and the flavor is outstanding. Love the look, and I’ve even sort of made my peace with the tiny little screws (Billie – some of us have old eyes. Make the screws bigger, please!!)

I’m really looking forward to the Apollo using Ni200, and with a bottom feeder. I think the chances of me getting a second one are pretty much 100%.

Wish I could say the same for the Calix, but I’m not off to a good start with it. Getting good juice flow and, while the airflow is a little on the tight side, it’s fine. The problem is the flavor. I’m getting a really funky taste -- sort of sour and "dirty" tasting. I washed it before use, and am using my usual cotton and juice. The wick is not burning. Can't figure out what the problem is.

I’m going to give it a more rigorous wash in an ultrasonic cleaner with vodka and try again. Has anyone else encountered this issue with the Calix?

Can't say I've encountered that. I'm loving the flavor my Calix is putting out, just wonderful.

Like with all new attys, I use a sonicare TB over every inch, so maybe just a better cleaning will get you sorted.

The Apollo BF? I had no idea, I just got my first REO last week, my Nuppin v2 arrived today, Chalice 3 shipped today. I'm going to take a serious look at the Apollo now that I know this. With how much I'm liking my Calix, a BF Apollo sounds amazing.

Those were the biggest screws we could find that could fit the SS cup and be able to unthread them with the cup on the base.
The Calix works the same way the Apollo does, so it is very courious that you get an off-taste. Can you describe the built you are using?
Are the tails away from the liquid feed or are the blocking it? Did you saturate the wick before using the new cotton for the first time?Is the cotton fluffy enough on the tails? Also, you might have a hotspot ruining your setup.Or maybe the wick is getting chocked by the coil. All our products go through an ultrasonic bath before getting packaged, so I am sure it is not from the production line. Let me know more details and I'll help as much as I can :)
The setup should look something like this:

Thanks Billie. My build was a single coil, 26g, microcoil, 6 wraps, about 0.8 ohms (as I recall), nice even glow without any noticeable hot spots when I test fired it. Cotton wick with the tails away from the feed holes. Wick was well saturated prior to filling. Was feeding well without any dry hits.

I agree that the Calix was clean – absolutely zero machine oil smell, as usual with By Leo gear. Could be that I didn't rinse it well enough when I initially washed it and some soap residue was left. It would be ironic if my cleaning actually made it dirty!

It’s out of it’s vodka bath awaiting a build (which will probably be tomorrow). I'll post how it works out.

And I was only semi-serious about the screws – it’s clear that larger ones would not be possible. But, it’s easier to point the finger of blame at the screw size than deal with the fact that the vision of my youth (well, a lot more than just vision) is long gone. Now, if you could fix that.....

When not blocking the juice channels, and running it "dripper style", is there a recommended placement of the wicks in relation to the juice channels? Like how it is in the picture?

I have had my wick tails anywhere from right next to them to nearly 90 degrees from the juice holes, seems to work fine either way with 85/15 vg/pg.
(well technically it's 85/4/11 vg/distilled water/pg, but I never see anyone post that way haha)
Just need to find where your "sweet spot" is for how open the juice control is. :)

My Calix is still vaping verrrrrry nicely since the bottom air-hole mod. I've actually "retired" the top AFC/tip combo and use a standard drip tip, more than enough air without it. :D
I still have a bit of the "modification bug" though, tempted to file the inner edge of the cup's C sections to make a smidge more room for my twisted 3mm nickel coils.
(I swear sometimes even a 44 gallon drum would still be a tight fit for those damn coils haha)
Regardless, I'm actually liking the Calix more than my ErlK attys now... that's a huge thumbs-up considering how much I love those things.

Not really. Just away from the liquid feed, like vakaion pointed out. The vacuum in the Calix will do the rest :)

Let me know how it works out and if you still have any problems. I am sure we will find the culprit. :)
If you want more air from the bottom and you haven't done so, remove the bottom screw from the cup completely and thread the SS cup tighter, so it sticks out from the bottom more.

Put a new build in it, and the funky taste is gone. My best guess is that I didn't rinse it out well enough when I was cleaning it prior to use.

Still fiddling with wick placements to see how various configurations perform. I want to try a dual coil today as well. But taste-wise, all good. Thanks for the follow-up!
