I have tried a number of tanks from the local vape shops but I am not having any luck with them.

At first I got some cheap beginners tanks, plastic garbage ones basically. They worked okay, not great, but died quickly and when they die you just throw them out - no wick/coil replacement.

Then I tried "cutie" tanks, which say jessy on the side, they are metal and plastic and you can remove and replace the coil and wick (its all one piece.) These are expensive, about $15 apiece from the vape shop. They work decent EXCEPT every 10 hits or so, I get one nasty burnt taste hit that sends me reeling. This happens with all the cutie tanks I bought, so I know it isn't one dud or anything like that, and it happens with different brands and flavors of e-juice.

Next I tried a tank from a different vape shop that looks like it has no wick at all - there are holes bored into the cylinder in the middle, no string or cotton anywhere to be seen. It works okay, but I get a metallic taste almost like I am inhaling vaporized metal. Seems like a bad idea. That one cost around $6.

Finally, I tried some $3.99 tanks, which are mostly plastic except the bottom which is metal and can be unscrewed to replace the wick/coil. I loved these at first - you get a ton of vapor and the wick sits at the bottom so they still vape well even when the e-liquid in the tank gets very low. However, with one of them I am starting to get a plastic-like taste when I vape it, so I am wondering if these cheap buggers are bad for my health - is it some cheap Chinese .... that's going to make me go ......ed? Hrmmm...

Please help! I need good tanks!

I'm a fan of glass BCCs (bottom coil changeable). Since I use ego batteries I've stocked up on Mini-Protanks and Davide glassomisers. I do have 1 full sized Pro-tank, but I feel like I'm using a microphone so it stays home.

Glass (pyrex) because I don't like the plastic, I can taste it after a while and it starts carrying the flavor of juice. Bottom coils cause... I don't know, cause I like them. Changeable coils cause after a while I can just toss it and put a new one in fresh.

I had the exact same problem at first. But then I heard that Joyetech released a new tank called the eGo-CC. I kept pondering wether to get one or not, and I figured what the Hell. Got it from cignot.com and I havent used another tank since. Its about $15 and their service is outstanding! I sent Vicki, the owner I believe an email with a question about it, and she replied within 5min. Well worth the money. Good flavor, vapor, and the atte has lasted awhile. Ive had it for 2wks and no issues. Only thing ive noticed, is if you chain vape like I did in the beginning, you have to blow into it a couple times after about 5 hits. Or put it down for a couple mins, to allow juice to wick back into the atty.
Best thing about this tank is it dosent have a hole in the center pin, so no juice gets on your battery.

Hope this helps.

Those sound like knockoffs of the T3S or Evod.

When buying equipment, especially if you're new at this, try to get good quality original gear.

Discount Vapers and Mt. Baker are two well respected vendors who only sell genuine Kanger or Joye equipment. My experience (and in reading the experiences of others) is that when you get good stuff, you get good results. If you get cheap stuff, flip a coin on performance.

Also, the liquids you use can affect the life and performance of your tank. There are many liquids out there that can literally disintegrate polycarbonate plastic tanks like the Evod, MT3S, T3S and CE3/4/5 systems. Cinnamon, cola and other flavors are notorious tank crackers that need glass tanks.

The ProTank 2, the Davide glassomizers, SmokTech Aro and ProTank Mini are all pyrex glass tanks with good performance and resistance to the tank crackers.

I am a fan of the UDCT tank. It's also known as the Artemas. I know that Madvapes has this as well as Hoosier Ecig has it as well. Do a You Tube search for it, and you can see exactly how it works. I've tried a LOT of tanks, but this one is my personal favorite. I don't do a thorough review, but you can see what I'm talking about here: UDCT (Artemas) Tank Quick Look - YouTube

Can you post a link to exactly which ones you buy / where I can get them? That sounds perfect!

The Kanger Protank 2 and Protank Minis, as other posters have said, are an excellent choice. They've got 4.2/5 and 4.6/5 scores, respectively, on my site. I like my original Protank, and haven't had any problems with it in the past 6+ months of vaping.

thanks - where can I buy those and what resistance should I get? In your review it says "1.8, 2.2, 2.5 Ohm" I have a variable voltage mod that can go from 3v to... I dunno maybe 5v? never been higher than 4 but I know it does go higher lol...

Depends on your how much power you are putting through to your coil. You would be fine with any of those ohms, but I personally get 2.5ohms just to be safe and I never go over 4 volts either.
