Darwin award nominee. Get a good charger like nitecore. I wouldn't recommend charging thru your mod. Some Samsung 25r or Sony vtc4 should be good for you

It's not really a safety issue (original question). If you try sticking in a single standard AA battery it simply won't work. If you managed to get contact the battery might get hot but would still be low danger and high frustration. It would be possible to construct a safe and effective setup using the cells, rechargeable versions preferably, but this would be large, heavy and expensive.

Yes. Actually the VTC3's are 30A cells. The VTC5's are 20A cells.

I read that they have reissued new ones. But Samsung 25r is cheaper yet realible
