You don't need to over oxidize your wicks...when the wick gets orange hot continue for 15-20 seconds and thats it....torch your wicks in halves. Quench only once....and then you can do a couple of flame burns. To get truly good coils ....the link provided by gdeal above is a good place to start. Petar K's coils are so good that he doesn't even need to oxidize his meshes....crazy.

This video is another great one for buildings coils...using the Petar Ks principles....but this guy actually uses a standard oxidized wick.

The flavor of mesh [to mE] is over overrated. It has some notes not found in my organic wickage that I really like [& thus do not shun mesh]. It is just the period of those notes existence is minimal compared to the longer peak note times for cotton or hemp to mE.

Also [to mE] mesh with sludge deposits taste much fouler, as opposed to organic wickage deposits, which are better filtered by the nature of their cells dense absorbent filtrative structures[I suppose]. I just know a cruddy organic tastes like a strong cigar, as opposed to a flue stack to m
