It's simply because the vamo's board wasn't meant for super high current loads, so they placed an arbitrary cutoff of 1.3ohms. The vast, vast majority of vapers are using commercially available resistance levels that don't go below 1.5ohm. The 1.3ohm limit was probably to take into account the slight variance is resistance that you get with devices with a labeled resistance. A 1.5ohm carto might actually be 1.4 or 1.6, if the cutoff was right at 1.5 some might not work. That's my guess at least.
It's a bit of a bummer though, as the vamo has a 5 amp limit. That means it should be perfectly capable of firing slightly sub ohm coils at a down-regulated voltage. It would be cool if someone could figure out a way to reprogram the boards or something to accept coils down to .8 or .9 ohms. The vamo automatically down-regulates voltage if you are too high anyway.
