Fatherdano,

If you want to try a vape flavor that is similar to Marlboro lights, I suggest ordering unflavored nic in 24 mg strength 30% pg / 70% VG. The best place to order it is Wizard Labs.

It is very inexpensive too. I suggest starting with 60 ml (I think it's about $5 plus a couple of bucks for shipping from south Florida)

You just squirt it directly into your REO bottle and vape. I found that any tobacco flavor juice I tried tasted like perfume and was nasty.

This is all I use and it has kept me completely cig free for 5 months.

Best o luck to ya bro!

do you mix it with anything?where do you get the 70/30 mix or are you just vaping straight nic solution???

Dano, You buy it in the 30/70 mix from wizard labs. Syringe it directly from the wizard labs bottle into your REO bottle. It is perfect.

I was lucky, I wasted only a little of money buying "flavored" juices before I was steered to the unflavored nic. I think that if I had to vape tobacco flavored juices, I would probably have gone back to smoking - they were that nasty, in that they taste like chewing the innards of an unburned cigar. Some people seem to love em though?

how do you explain to people what your doing while 'hitting' the mod

It depends on the audience and the mood for me.

Sometimes I keep it short and just say it's my personal vaporizer and just let them assume the rest.

Sometimes i tell them its nicotine replacement therapy, quickly followed by, I quit smoking or in your case I'm quitting smoking.

Sometimes I tell them the whole thing....but that takes about 15 minutes to expunge the readers digest version for me.

Most of the time, the response is "hey...that's cool. Good for you."

I've had a few people ask if it is an e-cig, so I answer that it is, I had one person ask if it was something else wink, wink. Told him I wasn't brave enough to pull that at a street fair and that it is an e-cig. Reaction has always been positive, congrats on quitting smoking, smells nice. But really haven't had much reaction. Had one lady cough and wave her hand in front of her face, thought about getting in her face but people like that aren't worth it.

Yay!!!!
how long does a cartomizer last?
Maybe a couple of weeks at the most, usually. Maybe way less, depending on lots of things including the carto itself and the juice.
are there pro and cons to vg or pg?
PG = more flavor; VG = more vapor. Many people use a mix of the two. I love vapor and vape 10PG/90VG, or thereabouts.
if i choose to mix my own via wizard labs, what is the shelf life of juice?
I keep my DIY nic juice in the freezer....go through it in about 6 months or so; flavoring has ??? shelf-life. Vendors say that pre-made juice has a shelf-life of a couple of years, I believe.

JC covered your questions well.

Would like to add at this point that a lot of people using cartomizers on the REO do not pre-fill the cartos with juice. You might have read that on other PV's it is a normal practice to fill them before use. On the REO just put it on and squonk (squeeze) the bottle lightly while drawing without firing. This is called the blind squonk. You will feel some resistance and hear a little gurgle. Stop squonking and you are ready to push the firing button, draw and vape. After a couple of vapes you will want to blind squonk again. With a new cartos you will need to squonk a little more often than one that is used for a few hours.

That being said, as the juice that is not vaporized collects in the cartos it will be absorbed by the filler material. Over time the filler will swell and you will notice the draw becomes tight (harder for air to pass through). You will also notice your flavor level will change or drop. This is when you will want to toss it and use a new cartos. The more you vape, and the more juice that goes into the cartos will determine the length of time the cartos will last.

Some times the heating element in the cartos will break and lose the ability to heat. That's a dead cartos! It can happen at any time.

Plan on a week or two per cartos but be aware that sometimes it is a shorter time because they quit working.

Please don't get too worried about all that is involved with vaping. It is a lot to take in at first but most quickly get the hang of it.

Remember we are always around to help. We have been through all this and it is our pleasure to help you along if needed.

You will be a pro in no time at all!

Just a bit about liquids:

30/70 (any #/#) refers to the percentages of PG and VG used. PG lets more of the flavoring through, and gives more of the "throat hit" sensation. VG mutes flavor (a little), and vaporizes at a slightly lower temperature, so the quantity of vapor it produces is significantly more. Some people have physical reaction problems with PG and stick with 100% VG liquids, otherwise, experimentation or the limitations of your favorite juice vendor will tend you towards a blend.

12, 18, 24, 36, etc. are expressions of the percentage (24 mg = 2.4%) of nicotine in the mixture. I've settled into 16-18 as my all-day level, with the occasional (rare now) bump up to 24. Can't do 24 all day anymore, though that's what I needed at the very beginning to fight the temptations.

There's this amazing feeling of relief when you actually KNOW that this can work. You'll see. :)

Dano, I vape about 2 ml per day and change the carto about every 7 days. (Not because it dies, but because the taste drops off a bit at that point).

You won't have to worry about the shelf life of the unflavored nic unless you buy bulk. In which case, like others have said, you can freeze it. There are some detailed posts on here explaining how to bottle and freeze it. I buy bulk 500 ml (it's crazy cheap - like $24) separate it into 60ml bottles, freeze em all, except the one I am using of course, then pull the next one out of the freezer about a week before the one I am using runs dry.

One thing to remember, you can't just run to the Haitian station and buy another pack once you run out, like when smoking, so always plan ahead with juice and cartos, allow time for mail, have some sort of backup for yer REO, batteries and charger.

I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am!

i received everything except the juice.

So all weekend i've stared at my metal box and charged my batteries.

Due to my track record on quitting smoking not 1 of my 6 boys or wife have shown any interest in my 'stuff' yet.

couple of newbie questions

when you change flavors do you change cartomizer?(can you reuse the cartomizer later?)

why are there so many different cartomizers?

Drip tips are for atomizers only? (I only see 1 threaded end of an atomizer)

Seeing how i've skipped the beginners phase of vaping (haha) and gone straight to the pros with the reo grande am i gonna be wowed when i go to an atomizer?

are all atomizers rebuildable or is that a silly question being that you need to build the atomizer?

I'm such a newb. sorry for alll the questions. As much as i like the look of my grand, if i stick with this i must have a wood version seeing how my trade dictates it!!

They will....when they see how well it WORKS.

Because every company in China makes several styles. Ha.

On the cartomizers, you pop the soft, white cap off the top and replace it with a drip tip.

Seeing how i've skipped the beginners phase of vaping (haha) and gone straight to the pros with the reo grande am i gonna be wowed when i go to an atomizer?
Cartomizers are great and will work really well for you....and they're easier to deal with at first when everything is new....but (IMHO) yes, you will probably enjoy atomizers when you decide to go there. Then (down the road a little....gotta have time to process everything...) you'll LOVE rebuildable atomizers even more....!!!

are all atomizers rebuildable or is that a silly question being that you need to build the atomizer?

Sterno answered this....but I just want to mention that there are NO silly questions.... :)

Yes...the wooden ones are beautiful....more than beautiful, even. And you will want more than one, anyway, so you might as well make the next one wood... :)
