Great news Dano. Makes my day here. If you should crave a cigarette grab the Reo and vape away. That will usually quell the urge. It's great that you are keeping us updated with your progress...thank you.

This isn't a one way street with you asking for advise and people offering their ideas to you. Actually you've given me a lot to think about as we'll. you've reminded me of what it's been like to quit smoking and how it's benefited me over these past few years. We tend to take things for granted at times and your posts here are a good reminder to vapers of the journey we've traveled, progress we've made and just how lucky we are to have discovered vaping.

well i'm glad to know i havn't wore out my welcome yet. i've been scouring alot of the old threads throughout the ecf. and its helped my learning curve significantly.
I'm a little surprised at the amount of juice i'm not going through. i thought i'd be polishing of 6ml a day, i'm actually a little under 2ml aday at 24gm. beleive me, i'm not complaining. the one time i did manage 15 years ago to quit was with nicatrol(horrid tasting)

i've got 4 more flavors to try so far im finishing up a english toffee then i have a christy cappacino, root beer, dreamberriy and then a bigger bottle of bee knees anyone try any of these? my gut instinct tells me the dreamberry is gonna be to sweet and fruity, i did like the toffee and at least the smell of the cappacino? oh well. thanks again all :)

I don't know about the bees knees (honey??) but I love coffee/cappuccino flavors, and I love fruity/berry flavors. I haven't tasted any of them exactly, but they sound good. It'll be interesting to hear your "reviews" of them. Here's a heads up, too. Your taste buds will be changing, and there will come a time (I'm thinking at the 2-3 week mark) when you hit a wall, and for a day or so, none of your juice will taste good to you. Just vape through it. Switch flavors when you start getting to the point where you can't taste your juice. It's all very "do-able" from here...but not without a bump or two in the road. It's funny that we stuck with one cigarette brand for years, most of us, (I was a Marlboro Light girl myself) and never thought about the flavor. We have higher standards with our vaping, and want every vape to be delicious. LOL I can vaguely remember those first few weeks, but I do remember whole threads in the Newbie Forum about ??What happened to my flavor??? and I think they happened around the 2-3 week mark of a new vaper. The consensus was that the taste buds were playing tricks. (Actually, I think they were coming back alive after being practically murdered!) Just stay tuned in here....we're all watching and willing to help. Keep us informed.

Thanks Jan

I'm wondering, if i think there is one flavor i can't wait to try that maybe i hang onto for the upcoming 'wall'?

I'm going to order a few extre empty bottles and supplies here shortly. i'm kinda tryin to be prepared for anything.

I really want to think that if i can go 2-3 weeks without smoking, i'm gonna forge through any obstacles.
I'm sure you've all heard it before, but i've tried some crazy ..... to quit before. (i once let some quack shoot a needle of something into my earlobes and put some sticker on ear then take pills that wacked me out worse than 2 liters of tequilla could.(thats what my wife told me anywaysl lol)

I'm looking forward to using my favorite cologne and having it last more than the car ride to wherever.(especially since theres no chance of #7)

I don't think you're going to have any problem AT ALL...especially if you're determined to quit. I think you've already quit. The way I see it, you are a non-smoker already. All I'm saying is, the juice is the trickiest thing you have left to deal with. You already have the best pv there is, and you already know how to use it. Right now the juice tastes good to you....but there might come a time when the juice won't seem to taste as good to you as it does right now. Just for a little while. Your taste buds are going to go through some changes....just like your body will when it starts rebounding from the abuse you've been giving it with cigarettes. It's all good. I don't mean to rain on your parade AT ALL. But sometimes if you know ahead of time that there's a chance your tastes will be affected, then you won't be blind-sided and discouraged.

I probably shouldn't have even brought it up so early on in your journey. You have taken to this really, really well. I have no doubt whatsoever that you have already quit smoking....you don't even seem to be struggling with it at all. So just roll with it.

I think what kept me going without back-sliding was that there was always something new and fun to fiddle with and learn, and lots of really awesome people going through the same thing to talk to about it. Making your own juice will be a trip all it's own...I love it. Talk about cheap....and every bottle is custom-made just for you.

I'm being honest when i say this is the first thing that has satisfied my smoking urge.(pleasantly)

I've run 3 marathons and over half a dozen half marathons while smoking, all with the hope that i'd quit. Problem was, that after a 18-20 mile training run i would enjoy my smoking like you could only imagine.

I told my wife that whatever worked for her dad to quit smoking i'd do. Well, he passed away from lung cancer 9 yrs ago this feb.
This sounds like something that he would have suceeded with. Its a shame i can't show him.

Well i'll continue the 'shopping list' saga tomorrow. thanks all!

Its great to hear that you are having success!

If you want to be prepared and you really want to not smoke anymore, have a small bottle of really high nic juice ready, preferably a strong tobacco taste. I am using 45mg/ml (4.5%) bite extra Nutzilla for that: (UK site) http://www.flavourart.co.uk/thats-nice-vape-ready-118-p.asp My normal strength is 10mg/ml or 1%.

When the urge for a cigarette gets too strong sometime down the road, maybe 6 months from now, use that juice in a good, fresh carto instead of lighting up. It WILL work.

On the other hand, don't sweat it if you give in and smoke for a night - you can't "fail" here. When you are done smoking, just start vaping again.

You don't need all the filler to be soaked, just enough juice to wet the filler around the element (coil) in the center. The amount of juice inside is what will determine the amount of vapor. If you have too much juice in the tube in the center you will not get much vapor. You might even get some juice spitting in your mouth.

On the other hand not enough juice will produce less vapor. Then you will also burn the cartos filler and get a burnt taste.

I find squonking a little bit, and more often works best with the cartos.

If you look into a new cartos you will see white filler for the first few days. The juice that is inside after you stop vaping will absorb into the filler. Over time the filler will look dark and it will swell.

Hope this help you some. It is a learning process to know just how much juice you need in the cartos and when to add more.

I'm guessing i burnt up my first carto, was really tasting burnt toffee. trying another of the cartos i got and it seems to taste fine just not as much vape(huge plumes). how can i tell by looking at a carto what it is?

Do you mean how can you tell what ohm the cartomizer is? Sometimes you can't tell be just looking at them. Some of them will have the ohms printed on them near the threads. Many times the only way you can tell is by checking them with a multimeter. If you said you got a handful of cartomizers ranging between 1.5 and 2.0, then maybe you are using (new one) a 2.0 ohm one now, whereas maybe you had a 1.5 ohm carto yesterday. That would make a little bit of difference in the amount of vapor and the warmth of the vape. It wouldn't be much, but possibly noticeable.
Meters : Cartomizer and Atomizer Ohm Meter This little ohm meter is very handy if you don't want to buy a multimeter.

i guess there is a learning curve to cartos and flavors.....

went out for a bite to eat with my wife, and never left the table once to 'go get a breath of fresh air'.

yes, she noticed and appreciated not being left at the table while i went to smoke.

+1 again to the Reo Grand. It's ironic but i chose to quit in one of the most stressfull weeks of my project. No problemo yet!

how to i get a signature from the reo site with my tally of smoke free days? Also, i tried to get verified and filled out the stuff earlier this week? how long does it take?

have a good evening all.

thanks

Great news, Dano :)
Making a tracking banner:
1: You go to the website and find the banner generator. Click on Create Now. Fill out your settings. Click Create Banner. Then copy the code in the top box.
2. On ECF, Go to your Settings. Find and click on Edit Signature in the left side list. In the dialogue box, paste the code. Then click Preview Signature (below box on right). If all looks good, then click on Save Signature.

Getting verified should take up to 48 hours, unless you used the ebay option, then it takes longer. However, there is only one person (a volunteer) doing it. He has a full time job, so it may take a day or two longer if he's busy.

you guys are great, i'm sure i'll have lots of questions.

i'll try not to be too lazy and use the search feature once in awhile lol.

i'm close to 2 packs aday of lights. i'll be happy if i'm getting my nicotine, i don't really need the tobacco taste.

I think 18mg nic may do you. I was close to the same smoking when I started ecigs & that is what seemed about right for me.
I would suggest getting some boge 2.0 lr cartos. They are very easy to use. If you do try cartos some of the people here will be glad to give you tips on how to use them. Attys are great for some people, they don't like me much :)

Good Luck!

forgot to change out my battery.

approx. how long till i'm dead.

(newly charged new battery and vaping less than 2ml.)

Are you charging the battery now? If so you should be fine till the other is charged. The 18650 should last over 8 hours. Just please pay attention to when you notice the voltage drop and take the battery out. You do not want them to go below 3.5V. It is much better to slap a battery that is reading 3.7 on the charger then to let it get too low. The battery will last a lot longer and hold a charge better.

Hi Dano,
Just keep on vaping. It sounds like you have no choice unless you get someone to drop off a battery for you. Your vape will probably not be as strong as you would like. No harm will come to your battery as long as it stays above 2.5 volts. I'm pretty sure it will not get lower than that. You'll be fine. When you get home put the multimeter on it. I'm curious as to what voltage it will be. You're vaping about 2 ml a day? If that's the case you should be fine.
