We look at it as "It's not how many analogs you smoke; it's how many you don't smoke."

I like to look at it this way, too. I enjoy vaping, it fills the need that analogs did, and I'm so happy about the flavors! But the best part for me is all the analogs I'm NOT smoking, and all the stinky smoke that is NOT making me, my clothes, my house, and my car smell bad.

I quit smoking 2 days after I started vaping, and it wasn't cus I was trying to quit. Got into ecigs cus of the novelty and to have a hit of nic at my non-smoking workplace.
Bottom line for me is vaping is so much better than smoking every was,( almost 40 years), and I'm a happy vaper closing into my 2 year mark.
I smell better and feel better :)

Yep, my story is very similar to yours! I will never go back to cigs, to me they just taste nasty! This is so much better!

When V4L ran out of peppermint, I tried several other flavors, from several vendors. The Peppermint is the only one that kept me off analogs completely. Once I placed an order and was down to about a quarter of a bottle. I didn't make it and ran out of juice a day before my order came. I ended up smoking a pack and a half of analogs. It almost killed me. I felt so terrible and sick to my stomach. But what I really couldn't get over was the fact that that's what I used to smoke every single day.

I quit smoking about a week after my first e-cig came..it was horrible but I had already ordered another brand. I quit when the second one got here. My hubby has tried and tried but they just don't work for him. Since I started with V4L full time I lost my need for cigs and I live with a smoker!
I have turned several friends on to E-cigs and set them up with V4L products..none of them stayed with it.
In my opinion, if you don't do the work, research, and stay thoughout the withdrawal syptoms..you won't make it. Most of all stay on ECF.. the built in helpful group here will help you and then you help others. It keeps you motivated and involved.
Also it keeps you up on new flavors and new products in case your interest wanes.

I never quit smoking. I just switched to vaping.
So when there is a technical difficulty (I'm a freaking champ at breaking stuff, just ask my computer, my stomp boxes, guitar strings, aquarium heaters, girlfiend) I bum smokes and/or buy a pack. It sucks. My old brand of smokes has a nasty aftertaste and gives me heart burn, so I do what I can to make sure I don't have to switch back to real smokes.

Quit the first day and have never looked back.

Me too. Actually it was a night. Drank a little too much wine and ran out of cigarettes a little earlier than planned. Documentary on the making of "Exile on Main Street" (Rolling Stones) on tv.
Not always easy, but yeah, haven't looked back.

@jeffree: Just curious: why did you quit PG?

Just zits. Lots of them. Face, scalp, shoulders. For whatever reason, VG doesn't. I've run two more PG trials to verify, each for more than a week, and the results repeated. No idea why. Don't really care either since I've grown to prefer the VG base. Any VG heads out there understand why. But I'd vape some PG, too, if my skin would behave.

BTW, I totally agree with Mary Kay's thoughts about this forum. It would have been much harder to quit cigs without the warmth, encouragement, and knowledge here. Man, I'm forever indebted to this group, past and present, and to V4L. After a year and a half, my gear comes from a few suppliers these days, but V4L and this forum remain my vaping heart and home. I don't spend as much time here as I used to, but there's something special here that keeps me in the neighborhood. Thanks to you all for that.

I would agree conditionally that, "Only if you want them to.", is true.

My case: I stopped smoking cigarettes unplanned and unexpected on 1/15/2010, the same day my first PV was delivered. I had no conscious plan to quit smoking, not even on my radar. I bought the PV merely as a curious gadget. But, to my amazement, I dropped the smokes with zero effort. And, again, totally unexpected to me.

Perhaps I was subconsciously ready to quit. But, consciously I was a bit terrified of the prospect. To this day, a year and a half later, I'm still amazed that I'm no longer smoking cigarettes (when I stop to think about it). I smoked a carton per week for about 35 years.

So, "only if you want them to", could very well be an unconscious desire.

That's almost identical to my story, too. After getting my V4L kit, I still kept smoking a few cigs per day (especially first thing with my a.m. coffee) just because "I'm not ready/wanting to actually quit"; within about two weeks, one day I simply forgot to have a cigarette (even with the coffee). Upon realizing that, it struck me with both wonder and amazement that, indeed, after 35 years, I had actually quit smoking -- and all "accidentally"! :D

Thank you V4L! :)

I smoked for 24 years, 1 1/2 to 2 packs per day. I purchased an e-cig to have an indoor smoking alternative. Started with a couple other brands, and could see the potential but knew I needed better hardware to break the cigarette bond. I received my V4L kit on 3/10/11, smoked my last pack on 3/11/11, and have had a total of one cigarette (out of curiousity - while in Vegas a month ago) since then. I did not have the "cigs taste horrible" experience with that one - tasted pretty good, really, and the throat hit was nice, but I picked my waffle carto back up again and it was a no-brainer. I prefer the taste of e-cigs and I'm happier/healthier being a vaper.

My husband had absolutely no desire to quit. He hand-rolled his own, with organic tobacco, and didn't smoke nearly as much as I did, but had smoked for much longer. Now he tells people that *I* ruined a perfectly good 35-year smoking habit for him! :)

So I would say "yes": you can quit smoking - if you want to - using e-cigarettes. You don't even necessarily be very motivated to quit (but it helps).
