Can you substitute a VV reg for a 5v reg?

Been making a bunch of VV's lately, but what if I want a 5v instead. Couldn't I just replace the 5v reg with a VV reg with FIXED resistors? LM350T's like I use in my VVs (based on Donptal's Poorvari) are cheaper than 5v regs.

Just wondering?????

any variable regulator can be turned into a fixed by replacing the pot with a fixed resister, in all actuality that is the true purpose of most variable regulators, just check the data sheet for said regulator and it should have a resistor chart (at least ti has it on there data sheets)

I don't see why not. Doing it that way would be more costly because a fixed 5V regulator would be less expensive but, it should work.
