Can you use an empty cart on your atty in place of a drip tip??

So, I've been using cartos since I started using e-cigs (a little over a year ago). I decided to try using an atty several months ago, so I bought an atty and a drip tip, as well as a bunch of carts. Well, I'm not very careful, and fell asleep with my e-cig on my bed one night... And woke up to a burnt spot on my bed and a melted atty): The drip tip was fine, so I put it away somewhere.
I decided recently to try attys again (and be a lot more careful this time!) They just came in the mail today, and I searched everywhere for that drip tip... And it seems to have disappeared! However, I still have a full box of carts. Obviously, putting your mouth on a hot atty is not pleasant...
So I'm wondering, if I pull the filler out of a cart, can I just use that as a mouthpiece? Will the plastic melt if I use it that way? I'm just concerned that I'll ruin yet another atty right off the bat.

Not sure about using a cart for this..but when I ordered som atomizers from volcano last time, they came packaged with some plastic covers (almost like drip tip, with real small hole). Those have worked for me in the past as emergency drip tips.never melted the plastic on them.

If you don't chain vape it like a locomotive (which would probably ruin the atty no matter of the drip tip) I doubt there will be enough heat produced at the tip to melt the cartridge.
If you don't mind a little wait and shelling out a whopping 88 cents, you could always give this a try.
