Citizens Against Government Encroachment -

"CAGE’s strategic advantage in promoting its values of responsible choice is that it is not a single-issue interest group. By finding the common links between regular citizens, some of who like smoking, others who like drinking, others who like to enjoy sports without the annoyance of government regulations, CAGE can mobilize a much larger cross section of citizens who feel alienated by intrusive legislation."

On C.A.G.E. there has been some activity around e-cigs, always a good thing, but

Looking at C.A.G.E.'s forum and all the advertising, it seemed like further checking was in order.

It turns out that the C.A.G.E. forum is amalgamated with Mychoice.ca which apparently is funded by Imperial tobacco Canada. Not exactly our allies.

It was suggested elsewhere that Mychoice is not taken seriously because of their association with tobacco.

I pasted two paragraphs below, please take a look.

FORUM

"We are happy to announce that through a collaboration between C.A.G.E., Citizens for Civil Liberties and mychoice.ca, we have now reestablished a public forum for our respective members and the public in general. Please don’t hesitate to register and invite your friends to join us in the sharing of ideas.
You can access it at: http://www.civilliberties.freeforums.org
Hope to read you there often."

and then this:

"Mychoice.ca is a nonprofit Canadian smokers' rights group that operates with funding from Imperial Tobacco Canada, while claiming to be independent of the company and not represent it or its interests. The Association claims to represent 45,000 members who have registered since its inception in September 2004."

Subsequently I found one post stating Imperial Tobacco had dropped Mychoice. Could be true?

Anybody know anything more about this possible link to Big T?
