Vanillas or other creamy things such as Caramels in vape form just have no taste to me. At best I get a hint of it and the hint is barely that. Poor things have been reduced to mixing bases and emergency juice.

Fruits, drinks and the obvious stronger things such as menthols, mints, black licorice, cinnamons taste just normal for me (whatever my normal is).

Initially I thought it was just an unlucky juice at an unlucky vendor. Six vendors later though (normal flavour, double and triple and everywhere in between) I find it hard to think it is them and it is more ME. I then thought it might be hardware but I have tried everything short of an RBA. Have also tried different devices on the battery front from my first ego to better spinner to a vamo. I have yet to use an unregulated device/mechanical.

I taste them fine in foods and in drinks but vaping them just does not work for me! It sucks because I would love to vape those flavours if I could taste them!

Common sense might say to try out a mech/RBA but I don't see that alone going from nothing to something.

Anyone else have this issue with certain flavours?

You may need to wait until vapors tounge subsides and dead cigarette tastebuds come back to life for you to get some of the more subtle flavors to reach you. What I did to try to help promote the flavor of some subtle flavors was to hold the vapor in my mouth while I rolled my tongue around and then after I inhaled I would let half the vapor out of my mouth and the other half out of my nose.

Of course I wouldn't do this in public, but the more you vape and learn what flavor you are looking for you can use these tricks in public without looking dumb about it. As your tastebuds come back it's easier and easier to do.

I switched full time to vaping on May 1 2013. So I am almost at 4 months for my buds to heal. Average lifespan of a tastebud is about 10 days, not factoring in any damage from analogs. I would think mine are functioning well enough now to taste something. I'm no scientist so I may well be thinking wrong ;)

The flavour does improve somewhat with a partial nose exhale as said above. It is still severely lacking though.

Have you tried the rolling tongue thing with vapor in your mouth? I assumed you were new and that was wrong of me.

Your tastebuds should be fine now.

The tongue has it's sweet, sour, bitter and hot sensitivities Sometimes its all about the small nuances I find vanilla, caramel, maple to be too much for me, as I don't have a giant sweet tooth. Maybe you just haven't found the right juice yet.

Yes, I have tried that. I've tried different inhalation techniques too.

This lack of vanilla/caramel taste did lead me to black licorice and/or absinthe vapes though which I do really enjoy where I thought I wouldn't.

I'll revisit the vanilla situation in a few months I guess. Off the top of my head I have a good 230ml of vanilla/custard/caramel juices just sitting around hehe.

Strong flavors can decimate your tastebuds also. If you vape very strong flavors they can actually ruin your taste for food.

Sounds to me like you hit the hard flavors first, and now your body is used to them. I'd suggest slowly incorporating the flavors that you are having a heard time with back into your food and into your vape. Otherwise licorice and cumin are all you are going to be able to taste.

The more strong flavors you use the longer it will take to get some sensitivities back. Use the flavors that seem muted or weak and only use the strong ones when you need that extra hit. It will all balance out, if you choose to balance them.

Hi there, I'll ask at what nic level are u Vapeing, as the higher the nic the more muted the subtle flavors can get.

If your Vapeing 18 nic then subtle flavors well be slightly muted, but if your Vapeing below 18 nic, then I'll rule out the peppery nic theory.

I find for most flavor is to use an iclear30. Dual coil dual wicks, works pretty good for me.

I've also found that if the device I'm using is airy, then the mixture of air draw with the Vape draw, mutes flavors, I find the protank can mute based upon this theory, at least for me.

Also try using a simple 510 Kanger or other Carto, no tank etc required, I find I get real good flavor from subtle flavors this way.

What vender-vanillas have you tried?

I love vanilla and have tried A LOT of different venders vanillas. I find a lot of them very muted, so I've just ordered some flavour concentrates from The Perfumers Apprentice and FlavourArt to add a bit of flavouring to my pre-made juices.

The best ones I've tried so far are Vanilla Dream from Heathers Heavenly Vapes, French Vanilla from BcVapor, and Vanilla Cupcake from MLV.

What type of tank and wick can make or break the juice taste,i use a mech with a RSST tank with SS cable and i can tell you i get the ''real '' taste of any juice.

I vape between 12 and 18mg/ml. Any more than 18 and I get dizzy and whatnot after a while. Any less than 12 generally (but not always) means no TH for me.

As far as airy goes, the Protank was the worst for me, almost no resistance on the draw.

Hmmm well that blows that theory. You are past vapors tongue and started on the flavors you can't taste now. I'm ot sure I can add much more, I have Juggies Yum Butta Rum and Vanilla Almond Caramel and both of them almost provide me with too much flavor. If you were closer I'd drive a sample to you, but perhaps you should try a 10 ml of both of those flavors when he opens and see if they do anything for you.

I haven't had any issues with vanilla yet, but I've definitely had issues tasting (and I don't know if that's truly accurate) butterscotch and caramel flavours. It's not that there's no flavour, but rather the taste is way, way off from the aroma. Weak on the tongue and totally "off" from the expected flavour. I wonder if this is less about your setup... perception is one hell of a drug.
