So here's the deal. We have a new business model. YOU name the price. Sure, we can't have everyone bottoming out or we'll have to change back to the old model, but hey, we're giving you full control. Use it wisely!

You'll notice a sliding bar mechanism on all hardware pages. Utilize this tool to pay for our products what you think they're worth!

If all works out, we'll even add a price adjustment for liquids! But we have to know this system is still somewhat profitable.

Anyway! Here are some of the badass prices you won't see anywhere else! All of our hardware is legit. Kanger, joyetech manufactured stuff. None of the cheap stuff. Reputable manufacturers only.

What kind of prices are we talking about?

510 starter kits - As low as $26.00
**3x batteries, 2x atomizers, 1x charger, 1x pocket pouch, 5x cartridges

eGo starter kits - As low as $29.50
**2x batteries (650mah), 2x atomizers (tank systems available), 1x charger, 1x pocket pouch, 5 cartridges (tanks available)

808 starter kits - As low as $22.00
**2x mega batteries, 1x atomizer, 5x cartomizers, 1x usb passthrough, 1x charger

Give us a shot! Believe me when I say, these are the BEST prices around. Unbeatable, in fact!

Our liquids are excellent. We're known for our tobacco flavors, but don't discount or fruit/dessert vapes! Fine liquids, great prices...

Interesting. I just up a few eGo T B atomizers because I'd like to try tank atomizers again after picking up an eGo Booster. It's an experiment, so I took one it at one of the more heavily discounted clips... but added a 1-mo warranty which I assume is usually pure profit just b/c I like your idea. Interesting idea. If I like the eGo T's again I'll definitely come back, maybe even pick up a kit....was hard not to at your prices, just have too many eGo batteries laying around. A $6-7 upsell to a 1100mah kit would likely sell like hotcakes.

Anyone have any ideas how we might simplify the price adjustment system?

I'm in sales, too, though not anything to do with EC's. I got the Ego T-B tanks from you b/c the were cheaper than anywhere else I've seen, including inexpensive shipping. I included the 1-mo warranty uplift b/c I felt guilty about completely abusing your system. I doubled the warranty from most places and still got a better deal.

I'm guessing I'm primarily in the minority, though. This is essentially a commoditized industry, and though you'll find loyalty here and there, everyone is shopping for the best price for whatever device/accessories they're looking for at a particular moment. If you allow people to slide down your price to the lowest level, you'll probably see 90% of customers do that.

As to the question how to simplify the adjustment system, one idea might be that if a customer chooses a specific clip, they can order at that price (or lower) the next time. If they go too low, that low price is no longer available for repeat orders. You'd have to track delivery addresses to enforce this realistically, but if your prices are below competitors, and you can offer those lower prices consistently to repeat customers, that would presumably create more repeat orders -- just at at lower margins than your competitors. Referral codes/credit to those of us who might recommend you to new customers... nothing novel or that other shops aren't doing.

But I assume you expect the majority of customers to not stray too far from the lowest price you offer. An interesting business model only goes as far as the reality of people trying to maximize their bucks.

But kudos from someone who recognizes people willing to take risks and try new business models. :thumb:

Only a small minority of people are bottoming out. What I might do is discontinue the option on repeat offenders if they aren't purchasing liquid as well.

So far we're only looking at about 15% bottoming out. It isn't too bad, really.

What I want to do is make everything easier to understand.

The name your price mechanism is only for hardware right now. We're testing the waters with it to see how profitable it can be. If in the end we feel not enough people are keeping the bar to the right of the bottom out position, then we won't be applying price adjustment to liquids.

But yeah, in the meantime, it's just for hardware.

Seriously... you can't beat these prices!

But consider upping the anty! We need money to stick around, but for now you can name your own price!

If you want to keep it that way, it's probably best not to bottom out...

But by all means!

And, hey! Spread the word :)

Hey Eric,

I'm on your site just ordering juices for now, but I thought I'd check out this "name your own price" thing.

I added an ego-T type B to my cart. It says "average price $3.75" (which is unbelievably low), but the lowest it goes on the sliding scale is $5.25... ???

Just doesn't makes sense. Is something wrong? Or am I doing something wrong?

Average price "$3.75" is the average amount paid over the $5.25 base price. $5.25 is what it costs to get the product here, plus the cost of packaging. So in essence, the base price is zero profit. The average price is the amount over the base price that people "tip" on average. And on 99% of our hardware, the average price is far lower than ANY of our competition by a significant margin.
