I've been vaping for nearly two months. Brief history of my vaping hardware/setups: I started with a Blu starter kit. That lasted a week, but quickly wasn't enough and then I switched to two official Joyetech 650 mah ego-T upgrade batteries that I used in regulated mode on some ce4's. Didn't like that clearo and switched to a handful of kanger t-3 (3-hole variety) and a vivi nova 2.5 (w/ 2.4 head). I wanted to try a twist, so I got a 1000mah ego-c twist recently.

Now for the problems.

I go through a kanger head every 3 days or so before the flavor just goes south and is incredibly muted. I'm saving the heads, because I'm going to try denture tablets to see if I can get that just new flavor back since regular cleaning doesn't work (soak in hot water and gently massage the wick). The vivi gets burnt hits very frequently even at low voltages. Today I checked the wick and it looks fine. The weird thing is, I've not once adjusted my voltage beyond 3.9 or 4.0 volts for the kangers and above 3.5 or so the vivi is just unpalatable. What am I doing wrong? The juice I'm using is a 60/40 pg/vg mix, although I started with a 40/60 pg/vg mix and had a similar set of problems, but quickly gave their juice up as I like the former so much better from a local retailer.

I use around 4.5v on a 2.4o Vivi Nova head and 4.0v on a 1.8o Vivi Nova head. The taste and troath hit is very good in my opinion. The only times when I taste little to nothing is when I have just brushed my teeth. I only get some dry hits when the Vivi Nova is almost empty, but then I 'roll' it around a little and it's good again.

BTW, I use a Mini Vivi Nova, Don't know if that changes anything.

I've found the lighter fruit flavored juices to cause less gunk on the coils and let them last longer without cleaning, these Ive used 70/30 mixes for them although 60/40 should be about the same. It seems some juices perform better at different voltages than others, so that could be why the vivi is better in this case at a lower voltage. Some of the vivi heads I've found not to wick so well so have rebuilt them. Its worth checking the coils and wick if theres problems to see if the coils look evenly spaced and are not too loose. I try to not drain the vivis too much, even the Kanger T2 I don't let it get too empty. Theres a few designs of the vivi nova though even if they are all calling themself v2.5, sometimes people have had problems with the copied ones, although the original can always have problems too I've found.

I noticed that the T3's need to wick a lot of juice to get good flavor. Your juice is pretty thick.. I have issues using thick juice with the T3. That said, there are a ton of workarounds with the T3 including removing one of the flavor wicks which is what works for me with 70/30 juices. Pull the stem off of the head by rocking it back and forth and CAREFULLY remove one of the two .6 wicks sitting on top of the coil. I stress CAREFULLY because I ruined a few by being ham fisted. Use tweezers if you have one. Put the stem back on and make sure that it is straight and you will be good to go.

Something else that helps is to take "primer puffs". Puff without firing the coil and watch for bubbles raising to the top.

Additionally, I find that it takes 1/2 tank or more to get flavor back after cleaning a head or adding a new head.

Finally, this thread has a TON of info and is LONG: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/337585-anyone-try-new-kanger-t3-yet.html

Hope that helps!

Sounds like you are just trying to find a delivery device that works for you, clear seems the easiest.

Give these a try (lots of places sell them):
VISION Nano Clearomizer Bottom Coil 1ml 1.8ohm - CLEAR [gv-VisionNanoBottomCoil1.8-CLEAR] - $3.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

It's easy to clean, and it's small enough that you would (guessing from 3 day T3) finish in a day. So no build up.

Juice is fine, volts are fine (use less if u go with the nano).
Hope you keep it up, and stick with it.

update, I 100% agree, primer puff, get those wicks WET!

T3's have always been hit or miss for me. I haven't had any issue with 1.8ohm vivi heads at 3.7-4.0 volts with 50/50 juice. I am not sure what to tell you, I used basically that setup ego or ego twist with a vivi or other similar clearomizer for about 6 months with no issues. I run 2.4 ohm heads around 4.4 volts. I don't use many ego batteries anymore but I never had an issue with them.

You could always just go with Boge cartos...they're pretty solid and you can get the 2.8ohm variety and have a bit more play prior to any burnt tastes or try out the LR variety, the XL's of either if you please. If you like them, pick up a carto tank.

Thanks for the quick tips. I feel I ought to clarify a few things. First, I literally toss the kanger heads in a box after a couple or three days. I've got about a half dozen I'm going to try the denture tablet thing with. I tried a vodka soak on a couple heads a week or two ago and it ate the enamel off the base of the kanger heads and I tossed those. I do vape between 2-3 ml a day of 18mg juice. My preferred flavors are light, clear fruits like watermelon, blueberry, guava, cherry cola, etc so I feel my heads should last longer than they do. I just tried turning my voltage up on the vivi 2.4ohm to about 4.2v and the flavor was much richer for a hit or two, but then it warmed up and straight burnt hits over the next several minutes. I also vape my vivi vertically and rest it vertically as well with a full slow twist between each vape trying to get the juice soaked at the top of the wicks as much as possible. I also shopped around and am actually on my 4th vivi nova. First one was off-center center post, second had no air hole machined in it, third one leaked a half tank of juice overnight and this most recent one is from a different retailer and advertised (and compared photos of heads and cylinder, etc and seems) as official 2.5.

I went to a social gathering the other night and forgot my battery charger (won't happen again!) and smoked 3 or 4 cigarettes for the first time in months. Not only were they unsatisfying in that I couldn't get a good enough drag from two different brands that I bummed, but they tasted awful, of course. So clearly, I won't go back to smoking, but I'm at my wit's end on a solid clearo or anything not genesis style to try.

It has been my experience, from trial and error, that most cartomizers/clearomizers do not wick well if you go below a 70/30 mix. Currently using the new Kanger EVOD with 2.5ohms coil on an eGo twist at 4v. Consistently give great vapor and hits. Been using the Kanger EVOD for over a month now, by far the best cartomizer I have had to date, and I have tried several. The EVOD has changeable coils, they run around $8 for 5. However, the EVOD is very new, and somewhat hard to find a this time.

I always lay my Vivi's down horizontal. That allows at leat one of the wicks to wick. Twirling also helps, and not letting them get too dry. I've had no issues with mine. Bout enough that I can clean 2-3 daily and let dry out overnight. Sometimes takes a while to get flavor going when first setup, but works well after that.

Nice, I had not come across the EVOD before. Looks interesting, thanks!

Picking up the EVOD is what I'll try next. Hopefully I'll have better luck with those than the standard T3. Can you recommend a retailer that is reliable and carries them? I've been doing my hardware and juice shopping locally and they don't have them in. I'm fortunate to live in an area that has a dozen or so vape shops around. Although I do have a favorite shop that has become my go to place, but they don't have the EVOD.

Moral of the story is I don't know which e-tailers are good to shop from.

Alright well it seems that you are going through some of the same problems I have so I will give my two cents.

1. Switch to a tobacco liquid get two that you really like and switch throughout the day, the non-identifiable flavours will be better in the long run, as you will not notice a slight change and can not compare it to the real flavour. Also switching the flavours will keep your taste buds active and reduce the chance of you growing accustomed to the flavour. Really it just tastes better through out the whole day.

2. No more Novas or tanks or clearos or anything like that. Keep it simple! Just drip. Get a 306 low res or high, doesn't really matter if you have a VV battery.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Try priming the head.. Take a couple draws off the e-cig without holding the button down to get liquid in the wick.

I don't have a T3 yet to comment on, but with the the CE4's & EGO-C Atomizer heads I'm using I've used a vodka bath to restore flavor, works amazingly esp a soak over night mixed with some hard swirling in a tall container!

I'm also using some Smoktek mega cartos, 1.8ohm DC, They work great on the twist, produce a good flavor, I'm running FULL VG vanilla and a 70/30 mix through them and no problems with either, they cost around $3.00 a piece from cignot. I've been running these for a week, flavor is still great and while the low ohm rating doesnt give full 4.8v on the twist, up to about 4.2-4.4 works well, above that no change due to amp limit on the twist. Out of the setups I've tried in my limited time they seem to be the easiest to maintain a constant wet vape with good flavor. My only gripe with them is that the pull is a bit airy compared to the ego-c tank setup or the clearo, and that really is nitpicking it tbh.

Are you looking specifically at clearos? My experience through ce4s,t2s and even vivi novas has been hit or miss, mainly because of those factory made coils. Id suggest a carto tank. Smoktech has some cheap ones out with ego threads now. 70pg/30vg is gonna work best. I dont go above 40vg on cartos. But hands down while I love clearos because of the flavor. A properly primed and punched carto is the most consistent vape I've had. No matter where I go I usually have a carto tank somewhere as a backuo.

I got my Evod's from ivape.net

They have them in stock and the replacement coils. These thing a new to the market, stock goes fast, if your really interested, I would not wait to order.
