Can't get into vaping despite over $250 in spending to try and find out what's wrong?

I have fallen in love with Zeus juice! So yummy, & not horribly expensive.. 12 ml is $5.50 which I started out buying to sample. Sometimes, if it's cheap... It's gonna reflect on taste or gear. I've yet to find my right PG vs VG level. Takes time & hang in there. Someone said turn your vv down so it's not harsh, me @ low setting is harsh. 1 thing I'm learning is everybody is different but, you learn a lot from posting & reading posts. Good luck, hang in there

I want to thank everyone for the time they took in answering my questions. I will look over this thread carefully and take each and every single piece of advice that differs from what I have already done. I hope to be smoke free one day, but for now Newport is still my go to every day.

Thanks again!

I know the feeling well. I was a Newport smoker for a very long time.

I would say practice. I have a sister that coughed her head off and she just had to practice not inhaling directly into her lungs. I bought her a very mild liquid just to practice with. Once you get the technique down, you'll be fine.

Edit-
When you inhale, draw the vapor into your mouth first (you'll still absorb nicotine). Then open you mouth and inhale. You'll inhale a little air too and helps prevent coughing. It's difficult to explain! :D

If this is the case I would highly suggest either talking to friends who are avid about vaping, or go to a reputable vape store and ask the folks there to show you some options.

Great advice, I spent a good 2 hours at a vape shop with my girl trying out all their flavors and talking with the staff about different devices and what worked for them. Got lots of good advise and most shops I've been in the staff are usually very friendly and want to help you.

Set an afternoon aside, take some of your gear with you, and go into a good local shop and spend some time with the staff. It really helped me get into it and was a great experience. The regulars that came & went while I was there were also very friendly and had their own recommendations and input that helped.

I think it's the base and flavorings from ecblends..I've tried 6 flavors from them and I can't tolerate any of them. I'd try a different vendor.
Oh come on now. I seriously doubt a successful e-liquid supplier that's been around since 2011 gets through each day by making all bad products. :)

If the Blu's worked for you I'm just wondering what part of that experience you could still use now. Honestly, it sounds like you're a candidate for just plain old cartomizers. I still use them occasionally because they're mild and hold the flavor really well. (Plenty of Youtube clips on how to use them).

Listen to the folks suggesting mouth hits over lung hits. You actually absorb more vapor in your mouth and sinuses than you will in your lungs (the particle size is different than cigarette smoke, and does better that way). I know it's hard to resist just sucking the vapor down into your lungs, but some folks have bad reactions to that.

Don't see which brand of liquid is better or worse for you, that would help to know.

Good luck, and keep trying; it is really worth feeling the way one does off of cigarettes!

Last year my brother got a vape and I had the same experience, he got a handful of flavors in different ratios and strengths but they all caused irritation, pain, and constriction of my throat and I couldn't bare to vape. Then 7 months later I decided to get my own vape hoping that maybe I would enjoy it more, and I did, it didn't irritate my throat like it had before, I vaped tobacco flavors for a few days, and then I went and started vaping the flavors my brother had bought last year and I enjoyed them greatly. I thought it was PG causing my sensitivity back then because that's what a lot of people blame, but my first juice when I bought my own was a 70pg/30vg and I handled that just fine, and I've tried various ratios since then and haven't had problems.
Unfortunately I have no explanation or theory as to why this happened, why I was so sensitive, or how I became able to enjoy vaping, apologies.

It sounds to me like you are getting dry hits. The only time I have coughed badly with vaping is when the wick is too dry or the voltage is too high. Like others have said, you need lower voltage and wicks that are saturated. If you don't have a variable voltage battery, get one: I like Vision Spinners and Ego twists (and these aren't too expensive). Go to stores and test.

If you're a Newport smoker, you have to try those two e-juices:

Menthol Tobacco (I like mild and medium)

and

NHale/XHale | High Voltage | NUport

Good luck!

I have 2 100% VG blends. One 6 MG, and one 12 mg. Both hit pretty hard. Not as bad as some, but I also have a 50/50 pg vg that actually almost is tolerable. Weird right?

No, not weird;

for some people too much vg makes them cough.
for some people too much pg makes the nic throat hit too hard.

50/50 is a good place to start and adjust from there.

Right now sounds like the main problem is to find a flavor you can work with.
Unflavored is a good place to start.

flavor is affected by alot of things besides the flavor of the eliquid itself.

Kodiak..I was NOT implying that they make a bad product..so ill clarify the statement. I ..I repeat...speaking for ME, personally...I have had unexplained reactions to particular brands and ecblends is one of them, the flavors were good, but I always have the same reaction when I vaped them..and I'm not alone on this. Several ecf ppl have told me they have similar reactions to various vendors..it's all terribly dependent on the individual.

if the blu is workable then best thing is to stick with blu while experimenting with more cost effective hardware and eliquid..

just getting away from the cigs for a month or 3 gets you past the tastebud changes, the coughing, and any other symptoms associated with stopping smoking, then it gets easier to figure your way around vape gear.

Have a friend who uses Blu exclusively. He tried my PV with 4mg 80pg/20vg eliquid at about 10w and coughed his head off. Asked him about it and he stated it was just too harsh. We compared vapor clouds and sure enough his Blu does not give as much vapor as mine. FYI - we work on different shifts so don't normally take breaks together. Turned my PV down to about 8w and he did much better but was still harsh. Turning the voltage down on batteries and Blu cartridges being 100% VG as stated above sounds like what is going on here.

I strongly encourage you to try anything and everything before you give up on ecigs! It was the only way I could finally quit....

Hopefully you will find some clues on here, there's a wealth of information and many many people willing to share their experiences. I doubt it's the nic, since I believe the Blu disposables are pretty strong...like 24mg maybe, and you said you could handle those ok. The cartridges you can buy in stores are around 16mg, and you can buy even lower (and save a little money) by buying from their website. I think they are all 100% vg, so it could be some sort of pg reaction going on. If you read through alot of the helpful posts on here you will see many folks refer to a pg allergy or pg sensitivity. Since 50/50 wasn't too bad for you it could be that you might be sensitive to pg and once it hits a certain level your throat, lungs, chest just says "no way." From other peoples' stories who have recently stopped smoking analogs, you could just be going through that stage where your lungs are clearing out from all of the tobacco smoking and any little irritant is setting things off. I'm sure they'd be the first to say hang in there, it gets much better.
