Can't get rid of a hot spot

So I'm pretty new at RBAs. I have this new one, I see videos of people blowing huge clouds from the same device. I have re-wicked and re-coiled several times now and still have this one hot spot on the last coil and leg to the positive post. I've oxidized the wick with H2O and a torch (this last one 10 times), then used juice and a lighter 5 times, followed by the cig paper trick. Still it's there. Driving me crazy. Here are some pics of what my setup is and what I'm seeing. I know someone will have the answer. Help!

It is hard to see, but the glowing part is likely too long in the air and too tight where it meets the mesh. The curved wick might be kinked and probably doesn't make things any easier.

So I buzzed down to the craft store and picked up some 28 ga silver wire and crimping beads. Used those for the leads. I'll do it this way since I don't have the patience to mess with a coil for 2 days lol. Worked great and thanks for your advice about the long leads.
