You need five posts here in the new members forum, and then wait until the system updates at approx :25 past the hour, before you can post in other sections. It's to make sure that you are a real human person and not just a bot.

This is no longer true. All new members are able to post anywhere on ECF (aside from the special forums).

Can you post a link to a thread you were trying to respond to? Are you sure it wasn't a locked thread?
