Cant tolerate PG

Hi all.

Havent posted in 2-3 weeks. I started my eCig adventure June 15th. Got a Blu which didnt work out, came here, read up, got a Joye 510 and loved it. I noticed though that when I first started vaping I got really bad headaches, and it bothered my stomach not to mention the not so nice aftertaste it seems all the juices had. The headaches went away and I figured it was just whatever flavor I was trying at the time or what have you when my stomach would bother me.

I decided to send the Blu back but didnt have a printer so they sent me the form that has to accompany returns.. I got it 3 days after the deadline to return it... (still havent decided what to do about that)... but in the meantime I got another Joye 510 kit and was vaping away (4 510s now)

But I kept feeling worse and worse.. I mean I started feeling really horrible, full body ill. I honestly wasnt sure what was causing it and then I got up one morning and reached for my 510 and then was like 'no'... and mooched some analogs from my bf... and by mid day felt great.

So I dont dont know if others have this problem but I seem to not be able to tolerate PG based eJuice at ALL. *sigh* The stuff just makes me sick.

I went and just ordered some straight non flavored pure VG juice. I havent touched my eCig in like a week and a half. Got the VG juice in today, loaded a 510 up and feel just as fine now as I did before. The VG (knock on wood) doesnt seem to be bothering me. The taste is much nicer (even unflavored -- I had tried unflavored PG and OMG .. blech) and to me at least, Im getting a better throat hit and more vapor.

Thing is so far Ive only found one place that sells 100% VG juice (not mixed at all with the PG). How many places out there sell straight VG juice?

I am severely allergic to pg and I have two companies that I can promise you have absolutely no pg in their juice. Johnson Creek Smoke Juice - Red Oak Line is pg free (Love their Tennessee Cured). Also, Ecopure Juice from CigNot - Their 'Fresh' is a really good unflavored.

Oh, Im not the only one that cant physically tolerate the PG? Wow, I thought I was some freak or something. LOL I got like this huge bottle of 24mg nic pure VG juice from Liquid Express. Nicotines a bit high for me but its not bothering me. I will definitely check out the places you mentioned.

I have to admit though that so far I have not really had good luck with flavored eJuice. Of course it could be because of the intolerance for the PG but I am a bit gunshy of trying another flavor and being disappointed. Do the flavored juices taste better with a VG base instead of that horrible PG?

A LOT of flavored juices have pg in their flavorings, that's why I have to be very careful and in contact with suppliers I use. For flavored juices I like and trust Johnson Creek, they are made in Wisconsin, but only their Red Oak Line is completely pg free. EcoPure Fresh is a really good unflavored/base vg juice. I have used these two juices for well over a year.
I know, I feel like a freak sometimes, too. I can't use pg in any of the products I use, including soaps, makeup, etc. It's a pain in the rear, but if it has pg in it, it feels like it is burning my skin.

It was weird cause I love bakery frosting with has PG in it. And the day before I realized I cant tolerate the stuff (though it doesnt seem to bother me in frosting) I was eating some major loaded frosted cake thing from my local stores bakery. The next day when I stopped with the eCig and was back on analogs thinking on what to do, I opened the container of the bakery item and thats all I could smell, was what I was tasting in the ejuice of my ecig. I think its going to be a while before I can even eat the bakery frosting again after this.

And so far I really like the VG ejuice. Even the unflavored has a nice taste to it and the vapor Im getting is just awesome!!! And I feel a lot better. I know there was a teeny bit of the PG left over on in the atty (I like to drip straight on the atty sometimes so all my attys have residue) and in the cartridge I was using (though I did clean it out) and I could taste it just a bit. But as the days gone on, the taste has gone away (and I feel even better) and the VG is really nice in its place.

Now what do I do with the PG juice I have?

I might have to try a 100% VG just to see what its like. I have been using 80% PG to 20% VG. I am getting a lot of headaches and a bit of heartburn though. I thought it was my body just getting rid of the chemicals. I might give it another week or so and then try 100% VG if it hasnt gone away by then

Heacdaches and heartburn usually indicate too much nic of too high level, or too much in short order of the right level - not the same as PG intolerance which the OP has - if youre getting heartburn youre likely vaping too fast, slow it down some and that should fix it.

Laddsy, I cant say for sure but I wouldnt be surprised if its the PG. I kept trying to tell myself it was just me trying to make the adjustment from analog to electronics, trying to explain away how bad I was feeling and how much worse I was feeling as time went on. No it was the PG. ID seriously consider getting some 100% VG if you keep feeling like that.

Its really hard to know how often to vape though. I am probably having about 50-60 hits per day and I am on 24mg nic strength.

I am trying to base the nic strength of my juice to the nic level of the analogs I smoked. I have a couple of samples of ejuice though that are like 24mg of nic. Thats way too much.. then I went too light 11, 12 but did that on purpose cause I would like to wean myself off the nic and just go with 0 nic ejuice. One was too strong and one was too weak so my next order was like 18mil nic. That seemed better. Course thats all wasted now.. (PG and cant use it).. the VG I got is like 26mg O_O but it was the only level to get the 100% VG in so I am dealing with it. It sure is giving a nice throat hit though!! Always had a prob with that with the PG no matter the level of nic.

well pimples or a rash or realy bad gas that would be something to make me think its pg but what you guys are sayin sounds like you are getin to much nic way to much nic cut it down with some vg you can get glycerin at osco jewels or target if u have any around you i have a brand its called equalline u.s.p

I know what a nic overdose feels like and this was nothing like it. Actually the VG Im vaping right now is higher than the highest nic PG I was using and Im not feeling anything. I mean on the PG I was feeling horrible, a full body horrible but not totally barfing on the stomach, but my stomach was annoyed lets put it that way yet I was able to eat ok. I know from past experience with a nic overdose (happened when I quite smoking some years ago and used stage one on the nic patch when I should have done stage two), that your stomach is ripped when you got too much nic in you.

No this was some adverse reaction I had to the PG. Im reading the other thread on it right now and I have to say I had no leg itching or skin dry patches. Nothing like that of the sort, just that overall horrific unwell feeling.

I have a friend who was sucking down too much nicotine as well with the ecig, he thought it was the PG but turns out he just needed to reduce the mg and overall intake, not a reaction to the juice. Some do have true allergic reactions as well, easy to test though. Good luck and happy vapes! I like VG as well, good vapor...

I can't tolerate all-PG juice (it causes me to have a little shortness of breath, and my upper chest gets slightly red and itchy), but I'm fine with percentages below about 60%. It's not always necessary to avoid PG entirely, but completely understandable if you want to do so.

Oh yeah, your symptoms definitely dont sound like too much nic and a few people ARE sensitive to PG in the concentrations used in ELiquids. It does tend to be worse with 100% PG though (maybe at later date you can re-introduce it slowly to find if you have an 'acceptable level') I was responding to Laddsy with his heartburn - weirdly I got it earlier because i was trying to 'smoke' my PV (madly puffing on it instead of slower longer drags); once I stopped doing that though, the heartburn went away on its own.

I have similar issues with the PG stuff. I had a couple bottles, some prefilled carts and ended up giving them away here on the forums. However, you could trade with others here also...
