Smoking is prohibited at our company but luckily, the owner of our company is very supportive of vaping and vaping at my desk is a-ok. I either work with friendly non-smokers, or smokers so no worries. The non-smokers, with their keen sense of smell, even remark that some of my flavors smell wonderful, especially my vanilla or baked goods flavors.

I work in front of a whole bank of monitors in a small room filled with electronics. I vape but I don't exhale the vapor when I'm in there. You guys would probably call that "stealth vaping".

I love my job & I don't want to cause anything to affect the equipment in any way. No film on anything...maybe some dust but that's all.

I arrive at work very early in the morning before our boss. I will vape a little before my boss arrives, he has not commented on my vaping except to say we need to get one of my co-workers on an e-cig. Out of respect for him, I don't push my luck. I will go into the restroom and vape just a little. I love that I can do that to relieve the nic need (I'm still at 12mg nic), and not come out smelling like an ashtray. On my lunch I vape either on property (they don't allow smoking on the property because of the butts. If you discard the butts they don't really have a problem with that either), or in my car. Most everyone is aware that I am now using e-cigs. I am currently hoping two employees will make the switch! :)

I vape at my desk, but just a pull here and there, no chain vaping.

Bathroom's always an option, if you can't/don't want to go outside. Just hang out in a stall and puff away- odds are you won't be doing anything but improving the smell :)

That's the great thing about vaping, you can sneak a puff just about anywhere if needed.

Am I the only vaper around here who enjoys his smoke breaks? Maybe my work environment is just different enough from most, since I'm back into restaurant management, but I enjoy stepping outside 3 or 4 times a day and being away from it all for a few minutes.

Yeah, I do. It's an old habit, from analogs, and I'm used to taking periodic breaks, getting some air, change of pace. It's nice to be able to smoke inside when the cold winter winds blow though.

I'm a teacher at a middle school. There is NO WAY vaping would be allowed. My first two days of vaping, I stealth-vaped with my head in the closet during my break (sigh) but really, it's not happening here anytime soon. I understand - kids are vulnerable and impressionable.

So, I vape on the way to school. I put it away when I turn onto the street of my school. Then after school I vape on the way home (after I leave the parking lot!) Then I chain-vape all evening to make up for it, lol.

Summer starts next week! YAY

I'm talking about vaping at work mainly, I work in quite a busy Library and I'm scared stiff to vape around any of the books as I'm paranoid that I may be damaging them in some way, or at least my colleagues would perceive that I am damaging them in some way.

I can definitely see that. Humidity is bad for books, so libraries will often run extra dehumidifiers in their ventilation systems to help keep the air as dry as possible. While I actually doubt that the vapor from an ecig would add enough moisture to the air to actually have an effect. If they allowed vaping and suddenly there were 100 people in there, then it might have an effect. It would definitely have the perception.

As for me I vape at work all the time. Then again I work out of my house.

I work at an FDA regulated facility so the rules there are pretty tight. Most places in our company we are not allowed to even have water and have to completely change our garments before entering. I actually don't mind not being allowed to vape at work so much because it gives me a chance to walk off the property and sort of "reset" myself every few hours.

I'm a contractor that works in several large commercial office biuldings in downtown Houston. Up until real recently, most buildings had a pretty lax smoking policy. Smoking in public areas were pretty much a no-no, but if it was a single tenant floor; it was up to the tenant as to whether you could smoke or not. Incredibly, I have a few buildings that still follow that policy. But those tenants are the ones that have been there forever and have some "clout". I don't know if it's permitted or management just looks the other way.

I don't vape on any floor, but I have been known to stealth vape. If I get "caught", it's typically to answer some questions. When I'm in the control room doing my job (I do EMS programming), I typically vape freely as I'm out of public view and those inside don't care.

My boss actually loves the fact that I'm stinky free and just yesterday commented how I'm "flying up the stairs and not out of breath" now that I no longer smoke. I didn't realize I went up 4 flights and kept talking the whole time, not out of breath and waited for him to catch up (he's a cigar smoker).

I work for the Government too and vaping is totally banned. I have to leave the premises and vape with the smokers.
I do however frequently offer to make the tea and have a crafty vape in the kitchen !
There is absolutely no reason for the ban other than that it frightens people who can't be bothered to find out about vaping.

I own a company with about 20 people. I have one employee who vapes. He goes outside when he does, I would never vape in the office. I hope it stays that way...we have never had an official policy. I have payroll to meet, clients to manage, work to do, new business to pursue...I work 60 hours most weeks. I just don't want to waste time on an issue that does not help my business grow. We currently have one regular smoker on staff, and she sneaks one in on her errands. Short answer, I don't suggest vaping where you wouldn't smoke. It's simply not my job to champion vaping...I have one job and that's enough...that said, I did buy a setup for the guy in the office, so I guess I am championing vaping.

just stealth vape.. seriously if someone catches you.. just explain to them its just water vapor and 95% of the time they are interested and couldn't care less.

It's how you approach the situation. Obviously you can't go around blowing clouds into children's faces.. or just go vape in the bathroom (if that doesn't gross you out)

i work for a very corporate Insurance company and I have converted 3 others in my dept.. now we all vape at our desks (just not openly blowing clouds in the air, simply blow it under our desks)

we also still go outside when its nice out just to rub it in to all the smokers!

see this is part of the problem right here!

you can't manage vaping in the workplace and keep up with everything else you work on? you couldn't draft a quick 2 paragraph policy on vaping in the workplace? cmon now.

that just seems like a poor excuse.

I'm working as a contractor for a company in the health industry. They are very strict on smoking - all employees who smoke have to do so sitting in thier cars in the parking lot. I stealth vape in the bathroom a few times per day and go out to my car after lunch.

I have never asked about thier vaping policy . .I doubt they have one but I'm sure it would be an automatic "NO" if I asked. And . .if I asked then they would know I vaped and I might be under more scrutiny with my bathroom breaks, lol, so I'm just keeping it the way it is.

I'm in IT and we have no rule about it now, and out of the 5 smokers in my dept, one is still smoking, one is on chantix now, and 3 of us are vapers. I think i'm the only one right now 100% off analogs however.
we all vape at our desks, but on the DL....I think it's a matter of "don't ask, don't tell" right now.
I mean what...sorry my area smells a bit more like strawberries? LOL.

I do actually need atleast ONE break to go outside and step away. sitting at your desk for 9+ hours is exausting.
once full summer hits I may feel different however ;)

Since I normally don't take a lunch...sometimes I'll skip outside and vape for 30 and read or chat.
When i've been away from my desk (in the data center or in meetings) my stealthy manner isn't enough nic to reload my system and I run outside for a "smoke break" so I can vape openly for a few min.

I think quitting/vaping/chantix/patch/gum...it's important to still take away from desk breaks. otherwise mentally you crave the away time and end up smoking to do it!

It's in our rules and regulations that smoking isn't permitted in the patrol cars. I've been breaking the law for 24 years!! With that being said, I always made sure I took the junkiest car in the fleet and I was fastidious about keeping the car clean. Most of the guys said that my regular car, which was smoked in regularly, was the cleanest car in the fleet. Now, I take a new car and vape to my heart's content while on the road! Headquarters has been smoke-free for many years now. Since I've started vaping, I generally don't vape where I didn't smoke. If I'm inside doing a report, I will bring it in with me and vape. So far, nothing negative has been said, to my knowledge. I've just had to entertain questions about it.

I work in a large public school district as a technician. I wouldn't vape there even if it was acceptable. I understand it's a significantly healthier alternative, but there's something about emulating smoking with hundreds of young minds being present that doesn't sit well with me. Likewise, once my daughter is born in 8 weeks, I will (by choice) avoid vaping in her presence until she is old enough to understand the difference. I don't want any "but my daddy does it so it must be okay" types of thoughts being engraved into her until she knows that what daddy is doing is not "smoking".

Just my 2c. I'm sure others may see it differently than I. :D
