This is the main reason I think the Vela clone is a POS. You will get advice to try sanding/filing the pin down to eliminate gap. I tried this, and it shorted out my batteries.

edit: You will get advice to try a 20x1mm hybrid atty on it, like a Heron or Aqua V2. Still won't fit.

You will get advice to use a hybrid topcap to make it like a SMPL. Still won't fit.

You'll get advice to use a different switch/top cap combo on it, like from a GP Paps...still won't fit.

Sorry Tommy, I think you got a bunk mod. :/

It's of course not the answer I wanted to here, but at least I know now. Thank you for answering my post thoroughly!

I talked to my mechanic neighbor about doing this and he said you're better off leaving it as is. I listened to his advice. I called a local SS Vape (I ordered the mod from their website) and the guy said a gap between the atty and mod is good because the atty won't transfer heat to the mod. I don't know.

I just received a Caravela mech from SS Vape. I attached the RDA and adjusted the pin accordingly, but the bottom cap has a gap. It doesn't screw in to the mod all the way before stopping. I hate having gaps either at the atty or the bottom cap, so how do I fix this?

    Thanks
    T

The point is to make sure there is no gap between the atty and the topcap.

If doing that puts a gap down at the bottom then that's just fine.

ok; lets try this: a gap at the top means you get stress on the 510 connector.

or let's try this: if you don't want gaps for aesthetic reasons : get a telescopic mod.

It's just a cheap clone with poor build quality. I spent $50 on the Manhattan clone and it's good quality top to bottom.

    Right on.
Ignore the generalized statements about clones. They are not all made the same.
Some Caravela clones are better than others.
The fixed pin ones do need a bit of work on the pin to relieve the gap with certain atomizers.
    Some have adjustable pins.

From what I've seen all the Vela clones are about the same. FT and HCigar are identical actually. Too bad about the stupid contact pin issue, they are absolutely beautiful mods.

Best advice I can give is find an atty you have with a shorter 510 connector so there won't be a gap, and marry the atty and mod together.

I agree. The mod fires just fine, and it is pleasing to the eyes. But with the gap at the bottom just a quick turn and the bottom cap is almost unscrewed.

Just curious... But what type of 18650 Battery are you using?

Fasttech has 20+ Caravelas from every Chinese manufacturer that makes them.
There're are a lot of differences.
This one for example, has a double adjustable pin.

$20.43 Caravela Style Mechanical Mod - 1*18650 / copper at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

FYI neither HCigar nor Fasttech makes anything.
They are both resellers, not manufacturers.

I've had and worked on numerous Caravela clones with this issue, the easiest remedy is to slightly file down the flat head side of the top cap positive pin, you only need to file it as much as the gap but be warned if you go too far or switch to a battery manufacturer with very slightly different(smaller) tolerances you may end up with battery rattle from the pin being too short for those batteries. Caravela clones are notorious for the top pin being non adjustable, you're basically stuck with zero adjustments because the switch has none to help out either.

The only reason I ever bought a Caravela clone was to use the main 18650 tubes for my surfrider/XXIX 1:1 clones, that's all the 20x1 version Vela clones are really good for IMO. From my use and experiences the Surfrider has a much better switch(magnetic/adjustable), even in clone form. The XXIX, Surfrider and Caravela 18650 main tubes are within 1-2mm of one another which the XXIX/Surfrider switch adjustment can take up for.
