Kind of surprised...in a good way that there is "only" 120 post to this thread. Thought by now we'd be pushing a thousand with as many reports I've seen on ECF.

Just got around to filling out a fraud form for $99.99 charged to my vape card back in June before VISA locked down the card. Two times in the past year for me.

I just got hit for the 4th time today. This time for $1500. This never happened to me prior to starting vaping, I cannot for the life of me figure out how this is happening to me so much.

This is third time for me since I started vaping :glare: Finding a better bank and better way to pay for my stuff.I got no alert just saw charge and then was told I should get my money in 1-10 days .This was on Tuesday and Im broke till they fix this mess.

Here's a graphic that illustrates what happens when you use a credit card online.

The weakest link in the process is usually the merchant's web site, but there have been cases where the Front/Back End processors have been compromised.

Given the amount of fraud events being reported here, I'd suspect weaknesses in the merchant web site(s). Another reason to suspect the merchant level is the amount of vaping business being done with China.

I filled out the form but one of mine was $600 walmart as well. I did have another small charge, but the bank rep only had initials, not the full name and I don't remember the initials. Although I have filled out the form, if you PM me I can tell you the 2 sites that my card would no longer work on. A paypal card helps, I have started using that online. They sent me an actual debit card, not credit card, but it works like bank card and can be used anywhere. It is different than the regular paypal payment method.

Hello, I am a new member but I have been involved in the ecig world a little while now and I have been involved in IT security issues for almost 20 years. I started my involvement with the vaping community on Facebook and quickly became aware that there were people having fraud issues and started a group on Facebook to address this same issue. I have been looking for a pattern and specifics as well to try and identify first how we as a community can feel and actually be safe in our transactions. I would appreciate discussing this more Judge Dredd or anyone else that may help us all to find a more permanent solution. :)

I wish I could rule out the vendors, and I know that there are at least a few with lax security/encryption. I am even aware of at least one vendor that admitted they had been compromised. It is still too hard to tell what the biggest weaknesses are without more information. I like the idea that you are asking people to submit the information. I don't know how to contact Judge Dredd, but I would really like to help or see if some of the people that have posted in this thread could assist me with my effort to help find better solutions for the vaping community.
