We all now the Zen Atty Pro has a fault with the top cap coming off easily. I was leaving from my parents and we were taking the dog. She rides in the hatchback. I had a tote bag over my shoulder with her stuff in it and I always pick her up and put her in the car so she doesnt scratch the paint getting in. I carry my Provari in my shirt pocket. So I didnt drop it while bending over, I slipped it into the bag. Put her and the bag in the car and put my PV back in my shirt pocket.

While driving down the road I pulled out my ProV for a vape. (it was dark and I couldnt see it) Hit the button, put it to my mouth, and burned the crap out of my lower lip. The top cap fell off in the tote bag and I touched my lip to a VERY hot atty. Now I have a little white spot just on the inside of my lip.

Just fair warning to anyone vaping in the dark.

I agree. They work well when you get them set up right but the top comes off way too easily. When I first got it I made the mistake of picking it up by the cap once and it slid straight off. The free play on removal also cost me a couple of ceramic wicks. I have a DID now which has quickly become my favorite. Pure craftsmanship and a screw on cap that lines up perfectly with the wick. No chance of these kind of accidents with this design. After all this time you would think that Zen could have rectified the cap issue with these.

I've never had the cap fall off of mine; but I have crashed a couple wicks while taking it off. I've found that the best way to avoid ruining a wick/coil is to grab hold, and give it a quick pull, straight off, instead of trying to carefully wiggle it off. I do the same with the Cobra, although the Cobra has 2 o rings.

Don't really get the comment. What do you mean? Taking a hit in the dark is a very probable scenario and carries risks if the cap is prone to come off as the injury above demonstrates. Not sure what standing in buckets of water has to do with anything. Rather than go back to analogues a person could just try a different atomizer?

Study the history of an invention/machines and they all start off with engineering glitches. It's difficult to foresee every single issue people can have with something when you are designing it. Early cars were so expensive that only the very rich could afford them, and they were not without huge engineering snaffoos. In order to remain competative in todays world all the products/markets have to improve over time or they will not last. Prices come down as a result of mass production and competition. I'm sure that every genesis model out there has someone sweating over how to design it better, more efficient, and more appealing looking. I predict later this year you'll see a Z atty pro 2 as well as improved DID clones.

I like what you said and would add that if it is foreseeable that a product can cause injury and the problem is not corrected or people appropriately warned of the issue then there can be legal consequences. Ask McDonald's about coffee that is too hot causing injury to a driver's lap and the civil suit that resulted. A pretty frivolous case to be sure but the lady was awared $0.5 million (reduced from an original 3 million award).

My top cap fits pretty snug and I haven't had any problems with it coming off unless I want it to. But then my zap usually stays here at home. I know that the reasoning behind the design is to be able to offset the wick but does anyone really offset their wick? I don't.

It seems that most of the highend rbas have the nonthreaded caps except the did. I've got an ac9 coming and the top cap doesn't thread on either. I don't have a cobra but from the pictures I see, it's a pop top also. I never hear anyone complain about these devices.. I really like that my did has a screw top, it feels really sturdy I don't worry about it coming off.

Yeah I can pick up my ZAP by the cap and shake it by the cap and stays on. But my ZAU before I traded it I could blow on the cap I think and make it unseat from it's position. Seems to be hit and miss with his attys

Mine would come off for sure if I did that.

The Cobra cap isn't threaded either, but it has 2 o rings, instead of 1. The Bliss also has a threaded cap.

Point is I think you should not need to bodge it up with stop gap measures. For the price, it should not have this failing and the criticism of this major design fault is widespread and should have been addressed. As we just heard, it is dangerous as well.

Latest zen~z are now mil-spec so that the top caps are snug.
