If you mean a cartomizer - you'll know. The burnt taste will overcome your lost sense of taste and smell. Believe me.
A standard cartomizer holds 1ml of e-juice, which is about 20 drops. You can always take the cap off and see if it looks dry - if so you can add a few drops.
Also the vapor production may be less as the juice runs out. Although I have sometimes been vaping away and suddenly noticed a slight burnt taste.

Thanks for the quick replys....

No, my sence of taste is gone from a brain injury. I can't taste anything except if it is sweet, bitter or spicy.

I can't taste the burnt taste that you mentioned.

Ah - sorry. A lot of vapers expereince a loss of taste with vaping sometimes. Well you could look and see if it looks dry and if it is top it off with a few drops. But I think you may find something like a Vision vivi nova or mini viva nova (depending what size battery you use) better because you can see how much juice is left.
Only problem there is some juices may react with the plastic if they are very strong, like on this list:

You can get metal tanks for vivi novas - you would need to unscrew the top and check how much is left. That's easy to do. I use them all the time myself.

Another option is a cartomizer tank.
