I'll want a carto tank don't want to have to fill a blank alot. I've read the tanks hold the juice and last longer?

They last a fair while and the flavour is amazing, really nice and full-tasting :)
The downside to them though is the filling procedure - it takes patience and if it goes wrong you can knacker the carto in it pretty fast. Just remember to prime it fully and all shall be good for you :)

Mate of mine once said keep wetting the cotton wadding stuff until you see a drip come out of the punched hole at the bottom, not just a little bubble but a full drip that works it's way down, then slide it in and fill the tank

I'm just starting to dabble with cartotanks myself and am pretty new to vaping as well. I picked up a couple cheap tanks and prepunched cartos from my local B&M on the cheap, wanted to try it out before jumping in and buying higher end gear. My experience has been that the flavor is amazing and they produce crazy amounts of vapor too, just have to give them time to wick juice back in after you hit it a bit. I'm guessing buying unpunched cartos and punching them yourself is a better alternative as I bet that gives bigger holes and better wicking, I've seen some now that are preslotted and would try those.

Just my experience thus far, YMMV.

When it comes to carto tanks my resource is Baditude, he has a few blogs on this exact subject. Find him, find his blogs. He uses carto tanks exclusively and knows what he's talking about.

Im wanting to try a cartomizer but being a newbie to this i really have no clue which one is easiest or best for a beginner. I just ordered my zmax flat top so my question is which one will work best for a starter and what all do i need to order to get started ?

Good cheap starter if you don't mind the Red one :)

    Slim Pyrex DCT

Helps to get a DCT filler also :)

IBTanked is great for cartotanks. Just click on complete tanks, and it'll guide you through buying everything you need for a cartotank. I don't have any experience with the Smok cartotanks, but I do know that some of my cheaper Boge tanks tend to let the carto inside slide around a bit too much. That issue can be remedied with a flanged carto like the ones Smok sells, and a drip tip with a wide bottom, like a Ming shaped drip tip.

Ok i looked at ibtanked and that's what I'll get. So should i buy a few extra cartomizers? What is a good ohm size in these? I really appreciate all the help.

Always have extras available. That goes for cartos, clearos, replaceable coils, batteries, etc. If your rig goes down for whatever reason, you really don't want to be left without a backup or replacement parts, especially if you've recently quit smoking.

Since I like a warmer vape, I prefer cartos with lower resistance values, usually around 1.8ohms.

If you like a cooler vape, look in the 2.5ohm range.

I'll be using a Sigelei zmax V3 to power it. I like warmer vapor so I'll go with the 1.8ohm unit. With the 1.8 would i run higher volts or watts or just have to do some tweeking? I have a Smoktech 1300 winder and a smoktech 900 as back ups. I use Aro 2 bottom coil tanks and have a pro tank 2 so i have backups just wanting the better vap experience.

I tend to run mine on VV devices at about 4v. Of course, YMMV. Start low, 'cause you don't want to burn it. Once you do, you'll never get that flavor out.

I'm not a huge carto connoisseur, but after trying a half dozen different brands and types, I settled on the Ikenvape LR Platinum S. They're often out of stock, so sign up for the email notification and be ready to order quickly; they're usually back out of stock after a day, sometimes less.

Now the bad news... I don't know if you're going to see a big improvement over your pro tanks and whatnot. IMO, the carto has a slightly cleaner taste, but the difference is marginal. Vapor production and hit strength are on par with a good Evod. I don't really use mine for performance reasons; I have a bunch of long-term, less often used flavors stored in those tanks. I can pull them off the shelf, vape it for 30 minutes, and put it back for a couple of weeks with no change in performance.

Personally, I don't think you're going to experience a big change in performance until you start getting into drippers and RBAs. I don't want to discourage you from trying the tanks, just don't go nuts with it right away.

+1 here! I have 6 EVOD tanks that I carry with me when I go out (different tanks for different flavors). I have tried all different kinds of toppers and I still love them (The EVODS). They are easier to fill, maintain and use. I have the one I bought originally and it is beat to he..! Still works like the day I bough it!

I have a couple of clearos and the performance is not a real night and day difference. The one thing that is better is that as long as you don't burn the coil, they will last longer. This is just my personal observation.
