A flange is not needed, although the sudden absence of one may allow you to do one of the silly things all carto users had done, like try and remove your drip tip when your tank is not installed on your mod, and end up with a spill. You can still use flanged cartos if you want to.

The Phiniacs is going to hold your carto MUCH tighter than your current tank, so those kinds of accidents won't be as easy.

As for which carto brand, everyone has their favorites. I prefer Ikenvapes but they are often out of stock. I use Boges as backups.

I also prefer darker juices so I choose cartos with larger holes, or slotted. Both Boge and Ikenvape offer those. That may give you longer service than the Smoktechs.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
I use a flanged two-holed carto on my xl Phiniac tank, either Smok or Ikenvape. Couldn't find Boges around, actually, and not really finding a difference between what I have....lol

The flange makes it sit up higher and keeps it from having drawing issues that I assume one could have if they used a beauty ring with an unflanged. I'm speculating that this could be problem, however. It might not do anything of the sort.

Above are some examples of Phiniac pyrex tanks. The first one is a sand blasted design which I put Elegance caps on from Hoosier Vapes. The last is an example of 3D hand-blown glass figures added to the tube.

It makes no difference which brand cartomizer you use in a Phiniac, makes no difference whether it is flanged or not. If you have a carto brand preference already, you can use it in a Phiniac.

From my experience, using dark or thick e-liquids will decrease the expected life of any cartomizer regardless of the brand. These types of e-liquids will clog the filler material much sooner than clear or thinner e-liquids. If you choose to use these flavors, just accept that you will be changing out cartomizers on a more frequent basis.

Just be sure to choose the correct length cartomizer for the length of tank you have.
