Hi Guys,

I have started using my CE-2 XL cartos again (901 riva), and every time I come back to them I really notice how much smooother and tastier the vape is.

My problem (which usually sends me away from them back to carts for a few days) is the filling....the whole tiny needle thing..

SO...my question is..... can anyone reccomend me Either:

A carto that you can drip fill and is as good as or better than these,
or
A way of modifying these cartos so I can drip fill them

Thanks guys!

Happy vaping!

Are you using the clear or stainless/black ones? If you have the clears you can see what's going on inside.

I love these things but they could use a little improvement. They have a couple of rubber/silicone plugs in them, the configuration of them varies depending on the revision you have. The rev 4, and and I believe the rev 5, have a soft tip and a silicone seal around the ceramic cup. You can carefully remove the soft tip and seal using a bent paper clip. Then you can fill by dripping down the side.

My mod is to leave the silicone seal out. I cut the soft tip's thickness in half with a razor blade. (I find inserting it into an empty steel carto halfway and then cutting makes it easier.) If you look at the bottom side it has a little groove in it. I then push it into the carto, groove side down. The groove helps keep the cup centered. It also has virtually ended wicking issues. Add a drip tip and you're good to go. This setup is much easier to remove for future fillings.

I've also done the clear tube replacement using a syringe (which required a mod to my ego cone). The 3 xl clearos I've been using for a little over 2 weeks were starting to get little cracks on the ends and were leaking. These are almost perfect now.

I would say get an adapter and go with either the LR 808 Mega or LR 510 Mega from IkenVape. They're super easy to fill using the drip method, hold 55 drops of juice without leaking, vape for hours without a burnt taste and I've been vaping the same 3 cartos for 10 days and they're still going strong. He has some LR 901 cartos in beta testing now, but I'm not sure when they'll be released for general sale. You can bet that once they are, they'll be just as well received as the 510 and 808 cartos.

i have the black ones, but i strip off the black so they're shiny steel and fit through my cone without getting scratched up!

Umm.... Your advice sounds excellent but i'll need to sit down with it in my hand to figure out exactly what you mean, i have two things I have to remove to fill - a white tip and a 'clear' ring below that - then i can see the two holes on the side inside which are tiny. Then i put both back in. I don't know what you mean to remove but i'm guessin its the inside ring with the holes in it? Sorry for not gettin ya, must seem real simple to you! :)

Do the LR 510 Mega have the soft silicone tips? Inner silicone sleeve? Not a lot of info on the site about these and the picture doesn't show the tip.

It sounds like you have rev 3s. Yes, you would have to remove the ring with the holes...I'm not sure how hard that would be. On the rev 4s I have, they've basically combined the "clear" ring and the ring with the tiny fill holes. It is a lot easier to see what's goin on inside with the clear ones.

I saw a youtube video about removing that a while back...don't recall who it was or what it was called. There's also a video about cutting the steel tube and replacing it with a syringe tube to make your own clear carto...The r4/r5 clearos are a lot easier to mess with, but I can't find any XLs in stock anywhere. Mad Vapes has a lot of the KR808 regular clears available, but no XLs...

Duncan - if you like the CE-2's head over to Clouds of Vapor and pick up a MAP tank. The thing holds 5mls of juice is easy to fill and you can see your liquid level. It uses CE-2 XL guts and IMO it is the one thing that makes the CE-2's worth my effort. I know he is always out of stock since they go quickly but he gets a shipment every week and has a "notify me button".

If you do find that video please let me know ;)

I can't find anything on LF uk site either, I'll keep looking for the r4/5 clearos as a few peeps have said about them being good. Might have to use a different supplier though which I hate doing :(

Not sure about a syringe mod? I don't know if I'd bother with all the hassle just for a clearo when you can buy them. Would it give any other tangible benefit? Taste/capacity?

Well thanks for letting me know about your mod and other advice! I have something to go on now. First step I think will be removing this 'holey' ring, then getting some clearos, then trying your mod. Finally if all that hasnt produced somethign beautiful I'll try the other cartos reccomended above :)

Thanks for the tip...although it doesn't look like they have the clearomizers, just the black/stainless ones.

Sorry I went looking for standard XL's not clearo's. Thought you guys needed them for guts and modding. Most Suppliers do not even have the metal ones in stock either. Anyway best of luck
