I went ahead and bought a few IBTanked carto tanks. So far, I love em. I’m doing fine with priming and swapping out the cartos thanks to Baditude and Ocelot. However, now I have a tank I’d like to clean out and have a couple of questions.

First the tank in question has juice in it. Anyone have a trick to get it out of the tank and back into a bottle without spilling it everywhere? I’m guessing it’s going to run down the sides if I just pop the carto out of one end and try to pour it.

Second, once I get the juice out how do I get the end caps off without damaging the O-rings? There doesn’t seem to be enough surface area on the end caps to just grab and pull, and I’m fairly certain I’m going to damage something if I try to slide something between the cap and the tank to pry it up.

(1) The syringe Is your friend!!! Always keep a few around with long flat tipped needles!

(2) You don't necessarily need to remove the end caps. You have 2 big holes in the ends now (with the carto out). Rinse with hot water, vinegar or what ever your cleaning poison is, shake it and let dry (I use a q-tip to dry mine)..

For IBTanked tanks, I find that getting the endcaps off is a true PITA. The only thing I've found that doesn't damage the glass or caps is to work a fingernail under the gasket at one point, pry the cap up a little, then rotate the tank and repeat until the cap is removed. I've only done that twice over hte life of my IBTanked, and just prefer to clean it with caps intact.

To remove juice from a tank, I push the cartomizer down with my tank tool until it is half way out (same technique as used to refill the tank), and then turn the tank upside down and allow the juice to empty into a plastic medicine cup that you can purchase from the grocery or drug store (medicine cups like comes with cough syrup or Pepto Bismo). Easy to pour that into the original juice bottle.

I agree with Supply Daddy. There's really no need to remove the endcaps to clean the tank. Put a washcloth into the sink and clean the tanks with some mild soapy water and rinse. The washcloth will help prevent accidental breakage of the pyrex from the bottom of the sink. If you need to, have some q-tips handy to scrub the inner tubes through the holes in the endcaps.

.

In that case, just use the thingy that came with the tank
