hi, I'm reading so much about so many who love their carto type tanks and have a question. Is the flavors from the juices not muted somewhat like I have noticed using carts on my kr808? I mean having to puff through poly and all? I'm guessing that it must be because the juice gets saturated big time with these??

That's true. Consider this theory:

A string-wicked device depends upon 2-4 strings actually making contact to the heating coil to provide juice to it. That is not much surface area holding the juice (flavor), and counts on the user to continuously tilt their device to keep the wicks wet.

A cartomizer has ten-fold the wicking surface area surrounding the heating coil via the polyfill that is saturated with juice (flavor). Add a tank with a large reservoir of juice countinuously replenishing the carto with juice with each vape, and you have a consistant hassle-free delivery system that provides excellent flavor. And, the position of the carto/tank makes no difference in how saturated the polyfill becomes, as it only depends upon the suction action of each vape to replenish the cartomizer in the tank.

There are those who still prefer a string-wicked delivery device, and I'm happy for them for finding what works best for them. There are those few people who say that the polyfill imparts a "taste" to the cartomizer, but on the other hand there are those who say that they can taste the "plastic" in a clearomizer or vivi nova tank. Try both and see which one works best for you.

yes I will need to try one out forsure. At this time for me having only used kr808 type carts and clearo's like T2's and mini vv my preference for flavor is hands down the clearo's mentioned using the string wicks. When I use my kr808 cartos I soak them till I need to dry the bottoms and blow them out and my juices still have muted flavour compared to the vivi's and t2's. For me I think it's the polyflll in the cartos and they are soaked most of the time I'm using that style of vaping. a poly'less' type of carto in these tanks would be the best but I guess flooding would be an issue.

thanks for the reply baditude, helpful as always.

very interesting. i guess I will need to try these for myself. I can't imagine flavor being better through polyfill but there must be something more to this then my only comparison which is kr808 polyfill carts vs t2's and VN's. Must be the added constant saturation factor with the carto tanks that make this type of difference and performance boost over the other way of using polyfill carts on a bloog battery

going to order one to try on my vamo when it gets here. not sure if I should go with dct or sct when I purchase one..So far I'm a low wattage vaper liking cooler vape so may need to try out sct to start.

thanks for the input guys.

I'm an exclusive wick fed vaper.....for now. I've purchased two carto tanks from my local vendor( Pink Spot Vapors) to see if cartos are indeed better.
I've found that user error(in this case me) is probably my biggest carto peeve. I just......mess things up. The one carto tank I managed not to spill inside my pocket vapes really well indeed.
It certainly delivers flavor better than my splitfires and vivis.
I've found out however that some DCTs are out there with flange locks. That may be the answer for me.
I do a lot of outdoor stuff, and jiggle whatever juice I've got in my pack or pocket. Vivis have never opened up on me, but I can see where people like DCTs better.
But think about this: Vaping is a very new industry, and I can't wait to see what's on the horizon in New delivery systems, Devices and juices.
For today Vivi and Splitfire tanks for me. Tomorrow is another day.

I have dripped for years using 901s, and never used a cartomizer until last week when I ordered a couple of tanks from IBTanked. Personally I feel that the flavor is muted compared to dripping, but I love the convenience. I ordered a Vivi Nova that should be here in a few days, and am researching the Drunker rebuildable as well.

I ordered a bunch of flanged cartomizers, but they won't work with my Precise 18650 without an extender, which I have been resistant to use. I also got some unflanged cartomizers, and punched them myself - and as a result have had a horrible time filling the tanks - even using the tank refilling drip tips that came with my tanks. This culminated in my spilling THREE tanks full of liquid all over myself and my desk today, and me about to scream in frustration.

When I got home I broke down and pulled out the 510 extender, and used a flanged, pre-punched cartomizer. It made all the difference in the world. No more pushing the cartomizer in too far, or pushing the end caps off. I don't like the look of the cartomizer on the extender, but I can live with it until the Precise ELA that I preordered comes.

I'm still waiting for the Nova to come so I can try that out (I ordered some aluminum tubes as well) but I am going to bed much happier with my tanks than I was this morning.

As far as flavor goes, it still doesn't seem as strong as dripping, but I am glad not to be dealing with the - oops too dry, shoot I flooded it, where is my bottle, hassle.

I'm waiting for Valleyvapes to get their Pyrex Sidewinder tanks back in stock - that looks even easier than a regular tank with a flanged cartomizer.
