I'm using Boge F16 cartomizers with a 30pg/70vg juice. There are four holes in it but somehow it starts getting dry after not even going through .5ml of juice. I need to wait 30 minutes or so for it to rewick and sometimes it just wont. It seems the only way to get it going is to put a needle in the filler and move it around.

This can be due to a number of factors. Usually it is due to not adequately priming the cartomizer before putting it into the tank. This is the most important step in setting up a tank, and how well you do it will determine how well that cartomizer will work during its entire lifetime in that tank.

I won't go into the method I use, it's in my blog in a step-by-step guide including a video demonstration: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3710-5-cartomizer-tank-setup.html

I've personally not been a fan of the Boge cartomizers. From what I've read here on the forums they are pretty inconsistant in their quality. Lately I've seen a few posts of people complaining the filler is non-absorbant. Boges have always had a more dense filler material than Smoktech. Perhaps get some comparable length/resistance Smoktech cartomizers and give them a try.

30/70 pg/vg juice is pretty thick, and might be challenging for a carto like a Boge to wick properly. My bet is on the Smoktech wicking better than the Boge.

If you need to find a vendor, here's a list that should allow you to find what you need: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3295-2-sample-list-vendors-selling-pre-punched-single-coil-cartomizers-cartotanks.html

If I could ask a question on this thread as its similar.
I finally decided to give my bobas a shot in boge which I also added a drop of distilled per ml.
I spent a good deal of time filling then waiting then filling again just to make sure I primed well.
The first 20 pulls were heaven but now my cart is pure white on top. I fear the cart isn't absorbing the juice through the holes.
Would the top of my carto stay brown as long as my tank is full?

All my other tanks are running great but they are more of a clear juice and I do still think they look slushy on the top of the carto.

Thanks

It's a common misconception that the top of the filler should always look like it did after fully priming it.

A perfectly functioning cartomizer in a cartotank will have a dry-looking upper filler after vaping on it several times, even if it was properly primed to begin with. Look at the below diagram that I made to allow me to illustrate this point:

Cartomizer Anatomy.jpg

As you vape, juice is drawn down from the top of the filler to the bottom of the carto by suction (negative pressure). Juice from the tank is also drawn into the carto through the carto's holes by the suction, both illustrated by the red arrows. The tank will never keep up in keeping the carto and its filler completely full, but it doesn't need to. As long as the filler around the heating coil stays wet, there will be no danger of the filler becoming burnt.

As I have noted elsewhere, Boba's Bounty presents a tough challenge for any wick device (carto or clearo) because it is so thick, and also because it contains a lot of particulate matter in it. This causes the wick material (filler or silica string) to become clogged and therefore not wick the juice adequately. It doesn't matter much how many holes you use or how large of holes you use in the carto, as that's not the problem. It's the thickness of the juice and the particulate matter that clogs the filler or strings.

Your best option to vape Boba's is to use a drip atomizer or a bottom feeding mod using a drip atomizer.

Thank you for the response, very informative.
Now I dont know if this process is unnecessary or bad for the carto but it seems to be working with BB so Ill see how this goes.
With a saturated (primed) carto I can get a good 20 or so quality pulls then my flavor is a bit off.
Im using an AGR so I took out the fill screw for 2-3 pulls then my carto looks slushy on top again and I can get another 20 good ones.
This is a smidge annoying but if this has to be my method for enjoying BB I'll do it.

RE: using a tank(im new to tanks) the flavor hasn't changed but it's just so much more pronounced I cant believe it.

I punch my own cartos so the holes are larger than the holes that are in prepunched cartos. Because of this I get a fully saturated vape even with Boba's, but my cartos don't last as long as they do with other flavors. Like Bad said, the best way to vape Boba's is with a dripping attie. I personally like my Reo with a rebuildable on top.
