I tagged on the end of another thread and didn't get a response so I'm starting a new thread since I'm new to cartomizers. Basically, I would like to have a good experience with them to gauge whether or not I can include them with my clearomizers. I got a DCTank and 2 smoketeck cartos @2.0ohms 1 hole and single coil afaik. I'm trying to get them to work well on my SVD vv/vw and possibly on my ego batteries. So, I followed the method of priming the cartos from the top with my droppers. Got it all good and soaked to avoid burning the filler. The draw is tight and I get little to no vapor but I can still feel a throat hit. But it does not taste burnt. Maybe the cartos are just from a bad batch. I've tried low watts and higher watts with the same results. Then I throw on my evods and protank 2 and I get a lot of vapor and taste. I'm thinking of trying another B&M that sells Boge cartos to see if I have more luck, maybe grab a 5-pack from them. I've tried 2 different juices, both are about 60/40 blends, my others are 50/50 blends and the tank is 6ml if that matters. I have even flooded it and cleared the flood and still low vapor and that's with a low draw at 10 seconds. I've read Baditude's guide and watched a few vids so maybe it's bad cartos. Is that common? Should I look to use 2.5 or 3.0 ohms instead? Also, they are much quieter compared to my clearomizers. I typically get that rattlesnake sound, but the cartos are almost until after about 5 seconds unless I up the volts/watts.
Thank you for any tips you may have.

All i can say is quality control on the SMOK cartos is all over the place especially in the polyfil quality/quantity. I have a bunch of unpunched 1.7ohm single coils and they all vaped great so far. I had one SMOK XL 1.5 DC that was wonderful and the other was pretty bland. I tried 2 of the 3ohm single coil 2 hole and did not care for either of them no matter how i set the volts or watts. The flavor or vapor just was not there with 70PG/30VG or 50/50 on my MVP V2.

Personally i like cartos close to 2 ohms or even 1.7ohms but your taste, juice and mod might work better with a little higher ohm coil. Ive also had more good experiences with single coils than dual coils even at nearly the same ohms.

I found what works for me by using unpunched unflanged cartos with just a drip tip. They are simple to fill and you don't waste nearly as much juice if its a dud. After that its only a matter of finding out what wicks best in the tank with your juice and draw technique.

did the carts come with your tank? those carts are notoriously bad. I like the boge xl prepunched single coil 2.0 ohm non-flanged carts. I vape around 4.4 to 4.8 volts on my provari and get good vapor and taste. best price for a 5 pack is buckysbargainvaping.comBuckys Bargain Vaping, Discount Vaping Supplies I would suggest you use a pawn shaped drip tip to hold the cart in place. the cost is 6.86 for a box of five or you could get the flanged for 7.95 I think.

I bought them as 3 separate parts individually wrapped. 2 cartos and 1 tank. I like the idea of an unpunched carto, if it's shorter, but not too short. I don't like to constantly drip if I'm chain vaping.

The unpunched is just a suggestion for getting familiar with a carto and deciding what works for you or if you even like them at all.

They do sell a 4XL dual coil that is meant to be used alone and there is even a shorty version. Both are fatter than a standard carto. The SMOK 4XL holds over 4ml IIRC and is offered in 510 or eGo connections. They get lots of good reviews for a SMOK dual coil. Im planning on trying them sometime. A XL (45mm) carto will hold about 1.5ml of juice but might start tasting dry before you get close running out. Its definitely not for the chain vapor.

The other reason is there are tons of cheaper unpunched unflanged carto options. This might help you pick a brand you like best and save a little in the process. Then buy that brand or punch the ones you bought. The punch tool is handy for adding a hole or better yet for just enlarging an existing hole if its wicking a tiny bit too slow.

I was 100% clearo until i got a carto working correctly. My first two attempts were not encouraging. Once i got on the right track, i thought the flavor/vapor was far superior to my clearos except maybe one menthol juice.

I use Carto Tanks almost exclusively.
Lots of Vape.
Lots of flavor (except for a few specific liquids. I haven't been able to determine why these few don't taste so good in a carto)

I prefer Ikenvape, Platinum XL SR prepunched cartos V2s, they have 2 3mm laser cut holes. (they are not always available) I have used the Boge XL SR Punched with 1 2.5 mm hole as well. Smoktech does not sell prepunched with larger holes, but they do have laser slotted ones, that I have not tried yet.

A good quality Carto tank also helps. These are great and really reasonably priced Complete Tanks

Read Baditude's blogs again. Watch the videos.

Experiment if you have the funds and hopefully you will find something you enjoy.

My favorite menthol called Icy Mint is only available locally in 50/50 and wont wick worth a hoot in my SMOK XL DC single hole cartos. The other one is a plain menthol 70PG/30VG from my preferred B&M but it taste better in my Pro Tanks but not by much. Both produce similar amounts of vapor so maybe im just used to it in the PTs.

BTW out of desperation i just stopped by "the close" B&M and got two more SMOK 1.5ohm dual coil single hole cartos. Thats all they had in stock. They kinda know me so he gave me some free juice to ease the pain of $3 a piece carto. Ive been bugging them to get some different cartos and offer 5pack discounts like everyone else. Plus the flavor of the day was my favorite which was only $6 for 30ml.

ATM its blowing nice big clouds of Treeces BlueBerries and Cream 70PG/30VG in the SMOK UDCT. I keep waiting for the dreaded gurgle i normally get with this tank but so far so good.

Well I called up one of my local shops last night, seems they only carry punched smoktech cartos, even though their website states they have Boge cartos. So I had to resort to ordering online, which I didn't want to do but oh well. I got the 45mm Boge XL cartos, standard resistance 5-pack. Then added some drip tips, then an 18650, then 10 evod heads, then a vision spinner. Gees, one can really go wild shopping online, LOL. I even had a Bolt, a Magneto, and a kick2 in the cart briefly but that will be a thread for another day down road a bit. I'll post an update when my cartos arrive.

The shop i thought had Boges also only had SMOKS. I bit the bullet and got a few single coil DCT type cartos. At least they had a punch for all the unpunched i got on sale. They were 1.7ohm single coil and two holes. Its wicking perfectly with 70PG/VG30 and the taste is pretty good. I was concerned with flooding after the last SMOK two hole carto i tried.

So now my DCT and UDCT are both rocking. One with a dual and one with a single. Both 1.5-1.7ohm. Both are wicking fine and it even got a little chilly here today.

And the Cards just won the game!!!!! :p

Ive been looking at mechs too. I found one i like but it too short to KICK it with a 18650. Make sure you can get an extension for it or make sure its KICK-able with a 18650 before you order one. I might have a machinist friend look at the one i might get and see if he can make a longer tube for it.

I received my order today. Used the condom method to fill the Boge carto. Nice big airway in there! Wow, what a night and day difference. Makes me want to get more dct tanks now so I can get more flavored going. I have to give a shout out to MVS, shipping was very fast, got all the stuff I ordered, and a free bottle of juice. So it's been a good day and even put some noalox on the SVD. Don't you love it when a plan comes together? I know I do. Thanks everyone!

The last two i filled, i used a 18gauge syringe and its worked quite well. It does take more technique than the condom method if you are making a big effort not to get any juice in the hole. They can be filled pretty quickly once you get the hang of it.

The tank filler/drip tip work good too. I got one completely full for the fist time without any leaking. The battery connection is staying as dry as any clearo and no dry nasty hits. My Mini PT is good but if i vape too fast i get a nasty vape. I haven't got one yet in a single coil carto in a tank. The dual coil will occasionally but i got to be chain vaping without any dry pulls in between.
