Have one more question/concern. I went to empty the juice from my tank back in to the bottle to change Flavors, and it's all tinted blue like the tank tubing. Should that dye be coming off and staining my juice? More importantly, could that be dangerous?
that's both incredibly interesting and completely horrifying to me. The odd thing is the tube isn't fogging up at all, hasn't cracked or splintered at all. It looks exactly the way it did when I opened the package, but the juice came out blue. I think maybe I won't be ordering any more rawr juices after all. Their blueberry lemonade is certainly the culprit for my lava tank tube developing cracks. Either way, it has some Boba's bounty inside now and looks completely normal. That's still just plain weird. I'll have to get in to contact with Mike from rawr and ask a few questions. Here's a basic background on how colored extruded polycarbonate tubing is made.
The actual extrusion process is the same as standard polycarbonate. The difference being that prior to entering the extruder, BB sized polycarbonate color pellets are dropped from a hopper into the molten plastic and then melt themselves and are mixed evenly in with the clear, creating the pretty colors! So for "color" to become "loose" from a tank, the entire polycarbonate tube is literally melting around it and sending layers of the polycarbonate tube into the juice. My advice....find another juice! Even if it was a clear polycarbonate tube, this process would still happen. You just wouldn't see it. We have never seen this happen, since for a tube to be that eaten away inside, it has generally cracked and leaked juice long before that. That we have seen! Once you see spiderwebs and/or cracking, it is a hint that a juice is reacting poorly. Not to say polycarbonate or any other plastic can't eventually be broken down by certain chemicals, no disputing that. Also, chances are.. if it ate the tube, it also ate the inside plastic of the cartomiser and anything else in it's path.
This all being said....we always try to inform everyone of the juices that are known to be problematic with tanks. But with the never-ending supply of new juices and ingredients, none of us truly have all the answers on which juices do what. I actually hate accusing anybody's product of a negative thing, since it doesn't mean the juice is unsafe or anything like that. It only means that it is not polycarbonate tank friendly.
It's why we have alot of tolerance on warranty tube replacement. We understand that the users didn't know it would happen or they wouldn't have done it! So pm me Vega and I can at least get a replacement out to you!
Sounds like a blast. I keep trying to envision a way to add a viewing window to a stainless tank that wouldnt reinsert the issue of decaying and cracking polycarbonate. I think the closest I've come would be a 3 layer system for tubing that has a thin inner/outer layer of stainless with a thin, vertical window cut in and an internal tube of Pyrex in between that could be popped out and replaced if something arose. But I imagine the actual manufacturing on that to be a nightmare...
If somebody can figure out a idea for a window or a line gauge that doesn't put polycarbonate or acrylic back into juice contact, believe me I'm listeningThe inside sleeve/liner is the most popular but unless it's glass it doesn't solve the problem. And I don't do glass tubes
Just wondering if the marigold color tubes are gone for good or just not made this time? Thanks!
I'm using one and I drilled 2 big holes like the Boge you and I talked about. It has been amazing actually! Really liking it.

Thanks CG and Drew...I think it might be the Kanger brand or just this batch but two holes down low doesn't seem to work so I'm going to try some other configs. Those are NOT Kanger though...They are MF Style Horizontal coils , BUT thye should be very similar in performance. I have used some cartos that just dont seem to wick sometimes though...Its happened with a few different types also. I think if you get the hole in a bad spot this happens. I just punch another hole somewhere and that usually helps.

I do have bigger sample tubes that I'm toying with right now. But I'm just not thrilled with them. I want a 22mm size (roughly 7/8" ) but everything is 25-28mm (slightly bigger than 1" ) So I have to decide where to size it.Still loving the cartomater. Solid design, easy to work with. Gonna pick up another one soon. Cuse, any word on the stainless 18sized tanks?
thats unfortunate. I suppose I'll err on the small side this time around and grab a red matte stainless. I only got the delrin last time for money reasons. I'm sure you'll sort it out!I do have bigger sample tubes that I'm toying with right now. But I'm just not thrilled with them.
