You have any mechanic friends? I bet they'd have something to get it out. They have to deal with snapped bolts and stuff pretty often. Can't think of anything around the house that would be able to back that out of there.

Flat head screwdriver, slightly smaller than the recessed area. Wrap a elastic band around the head and then jam it in so it sits snug against the stuck part. Apply pressure and turn turn turn. Hopefully this works. It does for my lens filters on my camera when I screw them on too tight. The elastic band would also prevent metal to metal contact and damage to the inside of that gorgeous mod.
