Cartomizer help

So I have been smoking on my Mini Vivi Nova for a couple of days and it doesnt taste right anymore. Its not so much burnt but almost metallic? I cant taste the juice at all anymore. Im running it on an Ego Twist and its the 1.8 Ohm atomizer. Is it really already time to change out the atomizer or am I doing something wrong here. Or am I just already so used to the juice i cant taste it?

I don't have much experience with the nova myself. However, I do have a good friend who uses the nova almost exclusively and he complains about having to clean it often to keep it working optimally. I would suggest cleaning it and letting it thoroughly dry out and see if that helps. Despite providing excellent flavor they are just too high maintenance for me.

Try washing it first. If you end up changing the atomizer head, maybe try washing the new one before putting it in. Washing clearomizers before use is one of the best pieces of advice I've gotten here. Also, what type of juice are you using?

A couple things come to mind:

Are you frequently tipping your Vivi Nova to keep the string wicks wet? It sounds like the "metalic taste" you're experiencing could be from dry hits from the silica wicks being too dry.

What juice flavor are you using? Some flavors react destructively to the polycarbonate plastic the Vivi Nova tanks are made from and can cause chemicals in the plastic to leach into the juice. Do you see any frosting of the tank, or any spider cracks? Has the juice turned cloudy?

At what voltage are you using on that 1.8 ohm atomizer? Typically, from my experience, I've had to lower the typical voltage on a clearomizer when compared to a similar ohmed cartomizer. Also, any voltages above 4.0 volts might be too high for that resistance.

I tried to edit the title but i guess I cant. Ive only been at this a week lol so I am still confused in all of this. The juice is called "Red Oak" from a local (crap) shop in town. The other one I am runing is doing the exact same thing. That juice is mint choc chip from All Smoke, both in 24MG(if that matters). I changed the atomizer out on one of them and I'm still getting the same taste. As I sit here its like I have a couple of pennies in my mouth. Really turning me off to this and making me want a cig. Going to grab one of these crap CE carto's and see if that helps me. I guess it could just be me since i changed atomizers. I have no clue=(

Ok and like an idiot again i really didnt answer any of your questions. I have played with the voltage a LOT. I cleaned out the carto(best i could with water) refilled it and tried it. didnt work. then i switched atomizers and getting the same result. Ive been keeping it around 3.6 - 3.8 area.

I got the tanks on Friday and they are still crystal clear with no cracks.

They are constantly on there side and i keep the tipped all the time.

Cool chart - great info. I've just ordered my first VV/VW battery today, and will be using this chart in the future, no doubt. I've saved a copy locally to use when my order arrives. Thanks for posting this.

I was about to mention to try a different juice delivery device other than your clearomizers if you had any. I might also suggest sampling some flavors at your local shop to see if you get the same "metallic" taste there. You might be experiencing "vapor's tongue".

Many new vapors go through an early period of experiencing "off taste" perception or not tasting flavors at all. After years of cigarette smoking, your taste buds have been damaged. They'll heal, but it may take some time.

Practice frequent oral hygeine and drink plenty of water. Pg and Vg in the vapor tends to dry mucous membranes, and dry mouth can prevent you from tasting flavors. Also exhale some of your vapor through your nose, as your sense of smell actually assists your perception of flavors.
