If I'm correct the mg level per cartomizer is the amount of nic in each cartomizer, but will the higher mg give a bigger throat hit or more vapor? My main cigarette was a marlbro ultra lights, and I'm trying to find something compareable. I order some cartomizer from V4L with their discount code yesterday. I'm seeing if I should up the mg cartomizer?

Yes, the higher the number the stronger the nic level. I smoked the same as you and am using 24 and am very satisfied. Some say that is high, but I dig it!

The nic level is measured in mg/ml. So 18mg would mean there's 18mg of nicotine per ml of liquid.

I wouldn't try to base your nic level on what kind of cigarettes you smoked. There really isn't a comparison because vaping works differently from smoking. There are some people who smoked half a pack or less per day and need to vape 24mg. There are also people who smoked a pack or more and can't go above 18mg.

I used to smoke a pack or more of Pall Mall Ultra Lights and I had to start out at 24mg to stay off the cigarettes. I've since been able to move down to 18mg.

I would suggest getting a couple of different nic levels to see which one will work the best for you.

Nic level doesn't affect vapor. VG is going to give you more vapor and PG is going to give you more TH.

Like WomanOfHeart said, there's no chart or formula to know what nic level you're going to need based on what you smoked. That's why you see a lot of recommendations to get a lot of different levels starting out. It's also another reason to plan on refilling cartos. Just as an example, I started out at 24mg and I was fine. A week or two in it had me bouncing off walls. So, I go down to 18mg and I was fine. Another week or so and I have the same problem. Now I do 12. While I'm out I use cartos and I drip at home but, even while I'm out I have an atomizer with a drip tip and a little bottle of 24mg. I use that for cravings which I still get on occasion. We can't tell you what you are going to need. It's a trial and error thing.

I've just started but I'm the same. I was failing at quitting in a more traditional way, so I was down to about a half pack of Marb. Silver (fka ultralights) per day. I found that even though 24mg is pretty high, it was about right to keep me from wanting to stray. I'm stepping down to a 50/50 mix of 18 and 24 now and my next order is 18.

You might want to consider getting some 36mg juice (It's the same price as 8mg juice.) at Tasty Vapor and get a doubler (no nic) in the same flavor. Get some empty bottles to go with it. That way you can adjust as needed and you won't have to wait for that next order if you're vaping something that is making you uncomfortable.

I don't think you should increase your nicotine dependence to get TH. You could use 18 or 24 mg and yes 24mg will give more TH. But 24 is typically a level more used by ex-smokers of full strength cigs, and if it's too much nic for the amount of drags you are taking, you'll get symptoms like headache, rapid or irregular heartbeat, etc.

More nic will not give you more vapor. Vapor is dependent on the carto or atty and the amount of VG in the juice. More VG = more vapor and less TH

My Vapor4Life w/ Vapor4Life cartos give more TH and less vapor than my 510 w/ a Boge carto. Vapor4Life cartos are stuffed sort of tight compared to Boge blanks. But the Vapor4Life is slightly higher voltage than 510 and give hotter hits (heat also adds TH), especially with the WOW cartos which are lower resistance.

If you really want a lot of TH, buy a fat battery model (like Ego, Riva, etc) and use low resistance attys and cartos on it. The fat battery models have tough enough electronics to handle the increased current flow.

Smoked mostly marl reds (100's after they came out) for almost 48 years.
I vape all-24-30-or 36 depending on suppliers highest available.
Seems to work for me--vape pretty much non-stop all day.
Once in a while I "think" i need even more---but the 36 always does the job .
Others get wired with 18 or less--it all depends on what does it for you .
Won't take long to find your zone:)

how does a 50/50 mix differ from 80/20?

PG/VG ratio. Has nothing to do with nic level.

PG - Propolene Glycol provides better throat hit. Can cause irritation with some people. Carries the flavor better.
VG - Vegetable Glycerine Provdes more vapor. Buffers some of the nicotine harshness. Can mute flavors.
