Greetings,

I have been a dedicated vapor for over a year now (woohoo!!) and this forum has been very helpful in helping me determine what to buy, where to buy it, etc. So, first of all, thanks to all you former smokers for helping in the conversion process. Now to my dilemma:

I now only use the Ego passthrough batteries since I love that I can charge them any time, any place and continue vaping. I am very satisfied with their performance and have, after experimenting with other batteries, found my solution in the battery arena. I have been a little less lucky in the cartomizer region. I have gone through an array of different cartos and attys (e.g., clearomizers, fluxomizers, the ego-tank systems, boge ce2s) and always come back to the dual coil cartos. I buy mine from nhaler but have also purchased through liberty-flights and a few other vendors. These things seem to give me the best combination of flavor, vapor, and throat hit. The problem exists with their shelf-life (at least for me). I usually only get 2 or 3 days out of these things before they get clogged or just start tasting nasty. I try to keep them moist but am careful not to overfill; however, I just don't get as long of a life out of these things as I've heard others have. I vape on these suckers regularly throughout the day but still feel like I should get a little longer life from them. I always fill them through the cap end. Any suggestions on how to get these to last longer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It would be nice to save some $$ and not go through so many cartos (one carto a week would be so ideal!).

P.S. I've boiled them a few times but am only able to get 1 or 2 fills afterwards at best. Also, I use a 80/20 (PG/VG, respectively) blend, usually from Tasty Vapor.

Congratulations on hitting the 1 year mark! WOOT!!!!

I am going to guess that it is your flavoring and possibly sweetener that is making them clog so fast.

Have you tried the Dual Coil Tanks? They are great. They hold 6mls and keep the carto evenly moist and they truly extend the life of my DCCs. I get about 10 days, sometimes more from each carto depending on what flavor I am using.

I hope that helped and good luck to you.

Smoke Tech makes 3ml tanks as well. I find these flush well to the diameter of an eGo battery.

I've contemplated the tanks but have read mixed reviews...mainly something about the holes in the cartos not always being punched correctly. Is this what you're talking about: Dual Coil 510 Tank Cartomizer. I would be willing to give them a try.

As for the theory that the liquid I use is causing the clogs, I had that thought as well. However, I usually order my liquids unsweetened and it doesn't seem to matter what flavor. I've become kind of lazy with seeking out new flavors...it could be time-consuming and kind of a crap shoot. Maybe I'll have to try a few different vendors and see if I get more life from these cartos.

I could be totally wrong but I think that TV adds sweetener to many of there recipes. I am not at all knocking TV, but I have heard lots of folks say that their juice will clog cartos and atties quickly.

Those are the tanks. Madvapes prepunched holes are too small and do not allow enough juice into the carto. I get non punched DCCs and punch them myself. I think that the slotted would be better than punched if you had to have them preslotted.

I simply use an awl and a hammer. 2-3 light taps and the hole is perfect. You could also enlarge the holes on the DCCs from Madvapes.

ETA- There is a slight learning curve with the DCCs and tank. You do not want the hole too big as you will get too much juice in the carto and flood it, too small and you don't get enough. It is well worth the learning curve IMO because once you get it right, the flavor and carto life can't be beat.

Thanks! I will look into the tanks. I don't mind a slight learning curve...what doesn't have one when it comes to vaping? lol

Also, I had never heard that Tasty Vapor's liquids are more prone to clog...that is a bummer because I really like their stuff. Can you recommend any good liquid vendors? I'm vaping a blueberry almond tobacco blend that I customized. It's super tasty (no pun intended)!

Yes that's what I'm referring to. I find if you throw in an eGo thread cover as well (They're like 2 or 3 bucks each), it covers the little bit of gap

See how it's all flush with the 3ml. I like the 6ml at work or when I'm around some place that I don't want to refill the tank as often. I vape a lot.
