Even as I prepare to type this, it sounds like a stupid question that I think I know the answer to, but if I have learned anything in my life, it's that assumption is often a bad, bad thing, so here goes:
Our starter kits come w/ 5 cartomizers, and I bought some juice with which to refill them. I don't know how long the cartomizers will last, but know that at some point they will have to be replaced. So, in buying blank cartomizers, I am buying cartomizers that need to be filled, yes? And when I do so, how much liquid will I fill them with? As I understand it, refilling the other carts takes about 10 drops or so...
Am I right on ANY of this?

When you buy cartos, unless they say prefilled, you will have to fill them yourself. What kind of system do you have?

If you have a 510 connection I recommend the resurrector cartos from crystal clear vaping. These cartos are legendary for great hit and long vaping between fillings. Filling a carto for the first time takes a bit of juice, 25-40 drops depending on the carto. There are lots of videos on how to do this.

When you refill a used carto, you want to drip on the wall of the carto till you get a slushy look on the packing.

You are correct. Blanks are empty and you need to fill them. Depends on what size you get. There are normal, mega, XL and XXL cartomizers. Sure I missed some, just fill it till they won't take anymore juice. It will pool on the top of the filler and try not to get any juice down the center tube, thats the air hole. To top off a carto once it's filled your correct again about 10 drops but to fill one again it depends on the size you get

First off, what device are you using. The ressurectors ate great cartos but they are LR, so if have a slim ecig battery then you need to use standard resistance cartos like a 2.5-3.0ohm.

If you have a bigger battery ecig(450mah+), then you can use LR cartos or SR cartos.
Answering your question aboUt how much to fill them all depends on what carto your using. I would recommend getting a pack of boges to start. Get either 3.0 or 2.0. SRs will be a cooler vape while a LR will give a warmer vape and more TH.
The boges are 1ml cartos and work really well. I'd get them from CCV because they have free shipping an you will get a free syringe with them. Filling with the syring is easy, and thats how I fill all of mine but there are other ways also.
The boges are easy To learn on and are regular size, once you get them down then if you have a bigger battery you can try some other cartos. I use the Ressurectors on an EPower. They are 1.7ohms and hold 2ml of juice. To start tho I think the boges are smaller and will be easier for you to get the hang of it.
Hope this helps! Goodluck!

Cartomizers should state their capacity. A Boge (and most cartos around 9.2 diameter and about 1.25-1.5 inches long are usually 1ml cartos). I always make a carto take 18 drops per ml of capacity, then wait 30 seconds and add however many more drops they will soak up. And BTW if you have a slim 510 you do not have a battery that can use low resistance cartos and should stick to 2.5 to 3 ohms for atomizers and cartomizers.

How I fill V4L/Bloog/Volt KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos

With the carto off the battery... Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid

Fill
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18 drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges and most KR8 cartos are about 1ml).
Wait 15 seconds or so then see how many more drops the carto stuffing will soak in easily.

Cleanup
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges and the KR8 cartos I use have a defined center air channel and I want to see light through that) While the carto is still open end down, touch a soft bunch of tissue to the top of the stuffing to get the loose juice - this will help prevent leaks.

Settle (first fill only)
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me (I use 20% Vg or less) then you may need to wait much longer.

While vaping
While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting hotter than normal, I take the carto off the battery and add eliquid. Also, I use such light sediment-free juices, I can look at the stuffing and see if it needs juice because the stuffing goes back to near-white.

I often use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on Boge and KR8 cartos (not to drip into since the juice would head for the central air channel). Easy to pop out to add juice.
