Confused noob question...

I bought the eGo from CigNot, and I grabbed 3 "atomizers," 3 "cartridges," but now I am hearing that people like "cartomizers" better? What exactly is a cartomizer, and why do people prefer this? If I understand correctly, they are supposed to be easier to fill?

My atomizer/cartridge combo is simply pull the two pieces apart and drop liquid in the cartridge. How does it get easier than that? Do the cartomizers produce more vapor?

You're going to get a LOT of responses to this one Sheep, but the cart + atty IMHO, are the better bet and here's why...

1. there's always the risk that the cloth like filling inside a cartomizer can burn.
2. unless you pull off the cap at the top of the carto, which can be VERY difficult at times, you're 'blind'. You can't see how much liquid is in there
3. they're a PITA to clean, I just couldn't see myself doing a bunch of boiling, blowing out, and then HOPING they're dry before re-filling them..
4. I have YET to get a carto with a flavor I liked.

On the other hand...
1. they ARE a simple 'screw on and go'

I'm sure there will be other's with differing opinions though! :)

Cartomizers are both the atomizer and the cartridge all in one piece and they are indeed awesome. They are easy to fill with the condom method. The cartomizers come with silicone sleeves on both ends and you put about 20 or so drops in on of the sleeves then push the cartomizer, mouth part down, and it fills the cartomizer. There is a YouTube video some where on this board that shows it and it's so simple. You can buy them blank, with no liquid in them or prefilled. I buy mine blank so I can fill them with my own juice. You can get them from plenty of vendors here. I bought a bunch from eastmall.com because they are so much cheaper there, with shipping I think they were $1.13 each. I've refilled mine many many times and think they are a lot better than an atomizer alone and cheaper to replace. I've had the ones I'm using for over 2 weeks and they are still going strong :) I hope this helps you out some.

Oh and I have the eGo and they work wonderfully on it. To me the flavor really comes out an the vapor is awesome and a lil warmer aslo.

I'm feeling lowered vapor production and am starting to think that my atty/cart I am using may be going a little South... Of course, I have 3 to choose from, but do you recommend CN for atty/carts, or somewhere different?

Also, do you clean yours? Is it simply a rinse under the sink and dry type deal?

At $1.13 per piece, I think it would be worth a shot. At worst, I'm out a few bucks, right?

Thanks...

See? Told you you'd get differing opinions on here! That's the beauty of ECF though. :) (Now Bella, don't you ever contradict me again or we're not friends anymore, got it? ;))

I don't really clean my atties anymore. I did the boiling water, dry burn method a few times, (yes, carefully) and I think it shortened their lives. (Those are the only ones that have popped on me, since December!)

I DO blow them out though, at least once a day...just put your mouth on the part where the cart goes on, lean over a sink or put a piece of kleenex in front of the bottom part and blow like hell. You'll see some liquid come out. Sometimes it's a dark brown color and other times it's clear.

After you've blown it out until nothing else comes out, wipe off the threads and drop a few drops directly on the silver coil you see in the atty. Then, reattach everything and give it a few puffs. If it doesn't taste right at first, give it another few drops and repeat that until it DOES taste right.

I don't find it needs more than that to taste alright again.

Good luck!

And what's more, all of the opinions are right!

Cartos are definitely a little harder to fill, but once they are, you can vape for a long time without refilling, fiddling with filler, topping off, etc. Domino's point about not being able to see the insides is my biggest gripe. I've been using them for about two weeks, though, and I have found that some flavors that are lost with 510 atties taste fantastic in the cartos. You should definitely give them a try.
