Cartos, what am I doing wrong?

So I pretty much started out on the eGo T and love it. The only problem is maintaining the atty. For this reason I decided to try some of the cartos that so many people rave about. First I tried Boge LR attys and got hot harsh vapor and threw them out as they were unvapable. Then I tried some generic dual coil atty in an attempt to get the EMDCC that everyone loves. It performed the same way the Boge did. Finally I found the EMDCC. It performs just like the other 2 cartos. The juice tastes nothing like it does in a tank. It's very hot and harsh and burns to vape, to the point I can't even use them. All the cartos were filled properly as far as I know. I took the rubber tip off and dripped liquid into the filler material untill it looked slushy, none of them required a syringe. I also let them sit for a half hour after filling before I tried using them. Any help would be appreciated. I just don't understand why I can't use these.

All of the cartos are being used on my eGo batteries that I use with the type B LR tank. On the last EMDCC I measured out 4ml since that seems to be the amount people are putting in them. It was about perfect, when I got to the end of the 4ml, the top of the filler was slushy looking. The other cartos I didn't measure, I just dripped into them untill the filler had the slush look.

I use Boge LR cartos on my old eGo batteries, and except for my juice clogging the darn thing after 1-1/2 days (another issue), I've really had no problems like what you're describing. JMHO, but I tend to think you may not be filling them enough. I fill the Boge's with 25 drops of my 70PG/30VG juice via the condom method. Then let it sit for about 1/2 hour (or more). Then, before vaping, I check the top of the filler for slushiness, and, if needed, add more drops around the perimeter. I use 18mg juice.

Someone else may have a better solution for you, though.

Oh! Are you dry burning them first? When I first started I was told to dry burn them first, but the dcc's I get from my local vendor don't have any primer on them. When I would dry burn those ones I would get that type of an effect.

Try not dry burning them before you use them, if that is what you have been doing?

Fill them until a drop of liquid comes out the bottom. Wipe that off, and whipe the bottom of the carto. Make sure no more liquid is coming out, and wait a few minutes. Then it should be full and nicely distributed. Shaking it a little can't hurt.
I've had on occasion had a harsh, burnt taste, but it was very rare (I think twice in 3 months) and I chalked it up to a bad carto. Seems strange that you have it with these different types of carto, though it could be very bad luck?

The atties that come with an eGo-T system are standard resistance(3.0 ohm). If you like those then you may want to try a higher resistance. Boge SR are good. If you want a little more try something around a 2.5.
Also what kind of juice are you using? Thicker, VG heavy, juices do not wick in the cartos all that well. If you are using such a juice try adding a few drops of distilled water or PG to a small bottle and try it again.

Thanks for all the replys guys. I'm excited right now because I finally got one of the EMDCCs to work for me!! To answer some some replies here, no I did not dry burn these cartos. I tried them a few weeks ago and did a dry burn on them like I do with my attys to test, they were ruined immediatly. I know now that you can't dry burn them. Also the eGo T type B attys I've been using are low resistance and have alot of TH and vapor with the 50/50 24mg juice I use.

My questions now:

What mix of juice is ok to use in these? My favorite juice is a 50/50 mix, but I added a bit of straight PG to thin it out this time. Should I always do this or is 50/50 ok?

How often do I top these off? I've been using tanks which are nice because you can easily see how much you have left in them. I don't want to burn these EMDCCs, but I don't want to be constantly topping them off either. Is it ok to go a few hours before topping? I know I don't want to wait for a burnt taste, because the carto is ruined if I taste that right?

Wow, I use standard cartos, and would be ecstatic if they went 2-3 hours! If you don't burn them too badly, I have washed cartos out and the burnt taste was gone. With practice, you'll learn to notice when they're dropping off in vapor- before they burn.

This EMDCC takes 3-4ml of juice on the original fill, so I'm hoping it will last longer before needing topped than a standard carto that only takes 1ml or so on original fill. But a rule of thumb on cartos is to top off when vapor drops? And this will happen before you burn them?

Depending on your vaping pace, I'd suggest topping off the regular sized cartos every 30 to 60 minutes. Check the color of the filler, if it's white add 5 to 6 drops of liquid. The EMDCC's can go all day before needing a topping off. My husband uses those for work (12 hour shifts) and doesn't need to top them at all. We have moved on to carto tanks which keep your carto constantly wet :)
