I'm actually only new to posting - not so new to reading.

I have read the "Cart material getting sucked into atty?!" thread about the cartridge material burning in the dse801. This is something I've struggled with too - I find myself buying blank carts because the material seems to fray over time, and this worsens the problem.

I wanted to reignite the question, no pun intended, and ask if anyone has had any luck with using a different sort of material? I've heard stories about using certain kinds of fabric in the carts???

Likewise, given the high rise of the dse801 atty design, what about simply not pushing the cart all the way down into the atty? Does this technique work for folks?

If this is a 510, you definitely want the cart mated completely with the bridge in the atty. Filler material getting stuck to the atty is not a problem I've had happen but once or twice. It's usually because there were lots of loose fibers. Trim them with scissors and keep the filler topped off and wet. When the flavor begins to weaken, top it off.

The filler material MUST contact the atomizer bridge or you won't get any juice to the coil.

Here is the subforum that discusses various filler material substitutes...
Cartridge Mods - E-Cigarette Forum

There are even modifications in there (ZFM) that do not even use filler material.

One thing you should stop doing immediately, if you are doing it, is twisting the cartridge once you have attached it to the atomizer. Twisting the cartridge at that point will definitely fray the filler material and often cause it to snag on the atomizer bridge.

And if you're interested, you could try dripping, which eliminates both filler and cartridges.

Interesting - I have twisted a couple time. Makes sense...I'll stop!

To dave - I'm using the dse801. The problem isn't so much it getting stuck - the problem is if/when it get's stuck it give you a very nasty, burning plastic taste. It is a result of the liquid around the end of the cart, closest to the atty drying up. So I find myself sometimes with an almost totally full cart, but all the liquid is at the other end, away from the atty. Trying to shake some liquid down, or storing the ecig upright so it seeps down, or even dripping has often caused me to get liquid in the atty. There's this very delicate balance of things going on, so I'm just curious if there's a better material for this application.

DC2s link should be helpful in this regard, however...
