Carts without that filler/white stuff?

Hi there,

Newb question, I just ordered some more DSE 901 atomizers, and the carts that came with them, are empty! They don't have that white filler stuff inside!

I've always filled the carts (I prefer to fill my own, with the liquid I purchase, I haven't used a pre-filled cart since the first ecig I bought) and I will saturate the white filler stuff and then put a drop into the atomizer, and puff away. When I taste that burnt taste, I open it up, throw another drop on the atomizer, and 1-2 drops on the white stuff.

How do people use this without the white filler? Is this the "dripping" that I see everyone posting about? I'd appreciate any info you can provide - or point me to a guide/FAQ if this has been covered elsewhere. Thanks!

N00bing it up,
Jenny

Blank carts are cheap. $3-$5 for a pack of 5. You can order some for a 901 from just about any store that carries that model. Of course, the shipping costs will be exorbitant if you don't wait until you are ordering something else too.

You can put filling in the empty cart that came with your atomizer. Check out the section on cart mods. Popular methods are fluval (the white stuff), blue foam and pyramid teabag.

Without anything in the cartridge you would, indeed, be dripping. You put a few drops in the atomizer (like you've been doing), put on the empty cart and vape. (If you don't bother with the empty cart and just wrap your lips around the atomizer, you are "tail piping." It works fine but buy some Chapstick. Hot atomizers will chap your lips.)

You know that fish tank filter cotton like substance? You can use some of that, or something similar. My husband brought home some thicker cotton like stuff from his work, and we just cut pieces of that off... works perfect! Also, if you have to wait... use gauze or something similar that you may have around home.

Make sure it's "cotton-like" not actually cotton which is not good to inhale.

Aha! So they are just "stoppers", I didn't understand that. I already have blank carts here, so I was using those - I was more curious to know if people were using the carts without the filler. Poeia, your explanation helps a LOT - Thank you! I didn't really get what dripping was, and now I know.

Thanks everyone!

If you look inside the cart-can you see light through the end? If so, this is a dummy cart and would or could be used when dripping. Not for use with filler, juice will flow through and into your mouth, always. If it has a bottom and you cannot see through it, then it could be used with filler, make sure it has the vent(s) up the side for vapor flow.

The filler is sort of like a sponge. You soak it in the liquid and as you vape it releases a little at a time to your atomizer. (With the heat from the atomizer helping it get released.)

So the trick is finding something safe (e.g. not cotton, not fire-proofed, etc.) that will hold the most liquid but will release it as needed.

The Fluval polishing pad is basically the same poly fill that comes in the carts from the factory. Some people have also found the same filler in fabric stores.

If you stuff it too tight there will only be room for a few drops of liquid and it will not willingly release that liquid to the atomizer. The straw mod helps because it puts a little air channel down the side for air below the filler to escape, making room for the liquid. (I like that mod but right now I'm having better success with fluffing up a much smaller piece of filler so there's room for air. But if you make it too fluffy, you end up with a mess because it won't hold the liquid in place.)

The blue foam, pyramid teabag, etc. are all attempts to find a more efficient filler that will hold the maximum amount of liquid and, as you vape, release all of it to your atomizer so there's no waste.

Learned something new. Thanks.
