Responding just got easier since CASAA appears to have invested in a CQ Roll Call System (currently in Beta)


CQ Roll Call helps connect people like us with our respective state and federal legislators by crafted specific campaigns to address specific issues.

Despite the fact that the CASAA CQ Roll Call isn't quite ready for an official roll out, a limited campaign has been released for today's Senate hearing.

Click this link to go directly to the site for the Senate Hearing campaign. Please note that it asks for personal information which is necessary for your email to be delivered to the appropriate government representatives. When you enter your information, the program will automatically determine your senators. You will have two senators listed (in addition to President Obama) - you might want to UNCHECK the senator who is NOT on the Committee.

Allowing the program to save your information will enable it to automatically be generated for you the next time you visit to participate in a future campaign.

I don't have any Senators on the committee, so I wrote a letter to Bernie Sanders last night- love him! from his contact page, you can request a response.. I'll be sure to share what he says in return!

watching the hearing now.. starts around 1 hour 20 minutes.. they were late due to votes on the floor. barely any of the committee members showed.

I can't tell if Zeller is playing dumb, or actually being smart in saying they need to do the research. so do the research and then regulate. not the other way around. it makes no sense to make regs based on stuff you don't even know.

eta: "using celebrity endorsement.." umm.. it would be pretty difficult to find a kid that knows who the heck Stephen Dorf or Jenny McCarthy is. and my really blood boils whenever they mention flavors, targeting kids (show me the advertizements) and using other substances in nicotine vaporizers.. clearly they do not know what they are talking about.

I think the worst spokesman we could have is Jenny McCarthy, after her shouting from the mountaintops about the study that showed autism was caused by vaccines, which turned out to be a falsified study. The Dr lost his license and all. But the damage caused is immeasurable. And she led the pack. Having her endorsement when we're fighting against the FDA can't be good.

That being said, I did write to the GA Rep yesterday. I sent a thak you message to Burr. And I sent 555 words to Harkin today about his BS on flavorings.

I'm very upset, and somewhat perplexed, that there was only a short discussion on how much worse cigarettes have gotten, yet there is nothing preventing or regulating *that*. a brief mention on how in the 60s they were safer than they are now, with all the additional chemicals and additives and such, to make them "easier to inhale."

also, hardly any regulation for "premium cigars"- and I'll leave the speculation of why that is to whomever wants to think on it..

I despise ignorance, especially when passed on as fact, or string argument, by a government official, agency or representative. I thank whatever force there is out there, that Harkin is not the end-all-be-all.
