Hi all. I've been away for a few months. I had some serious family issues. Anyway I filled out a Google doc for a Stumpy and got an an invoice from a pament service that we weren't allowed to mention here a while back. Is this how we pat Tom these days? Sorry for the stupid question but I didn't want to try to find the answer in the thousands of posts that I missed

Here is twisted build DB posted.
Catfish Atty Mods the next Chapter

Ribbon or round, 2.5-3mm twistys sure seem make the Thump shine. Center'em and set'em with the top of the coil level to the posts, leave that air gap under the coils, wick'em up and let it rip...;)

P.S...Also note that the coils are set close to the posts. This allows airflow to surround the coil when the top cap is in place.

So far no spitback!? And honestly it's literally the smoothest vape I've ever had. If it stays this while we have a keeper :thumb:

I love my twisted coils, but since I have been using more regulated squonkers lately I have really been enjoying claptons. So I still use my twisted coils in my unregs and they hold up so well , my last coil went almost 4 months before I rebuilt it. Also I always use flat ribbon in them just seems to bring out more flavor.

Interesting beez, ribbon wire lasting long with potentially better flavor?....:)

A few months ago I asked DB about ribbon wire, he clued me in on what sizes to buy. I bought every size of ribbon kanthol Temco had available for our purpose, vaping, based on DB's recommendations.

I'm going to finally try the wire the week ahead since I have a couple atty's due for recoiling.

Any particular inner coil and ribbon size you like the best?

Generally I make coils in the .30-.50 range. What would you suggest I build- meaning ribbon size and inner diameter?

Additionally, are you making twisted coils using ribbon & round kanthol too?

Thanks for any help!
Dale

DB, what size ribbon do you generally use?

Any recommendations would be welcomed...I like .30-.50 ohm.. 2.5 or 3.5 size coils.

Thanks my friend...!

I do a lot of mixing with mine usually go with 26g 32g then some flat wire .5, also mix and match with nichrome. I have a 26g nichrome with 32g kanthal and .5 flat. All of my wire I have both kanthal and nichrome as with the flat it just seems to work for me . My coils usually in the .27 to .4 ohm range mostly 3.0mm but on my smaller atties I will go with 2.5 any smaller Id I don't care for seems to taste burnt to me. When I first started twisting I just started trying all different combos till I found the one I like. It took almost a year to get through all of it but it didn't take long for me to perfect my twisting method. Another key as well for me is what device I'm using, if I'm using a peko then it's dual twisted or thin triple twisted if I'm using my dual boxes heavier gauge triple twisted. It's just like anything else vape related trial and error and personal preference.
