"cannot allow member trades in his advertising thread(s) - only Forum Suppliers can have trades in their dedicated forums and only of their products. Member Sales are only permitted in the classifieds.

Members will have to do trades in the classifieds for his goods if Classifieds allows as they have a completely independent set of rules regarding what is allowed or not."


I hope this clarifies why Reo and NT have their trade thread. It's for their product only, within their forum. Everything else goes to the Classifieds.

I'm going to contact the Classifieds Admin next and see what they think about allowing y'all to trade/sell CAM modified stuff on there.

Back when I have more info.

Honestly even if ecf decides that selling CH atties on the classifieds is a no go, minimally it would seem to me that it is only reasonable if we can openly trade or sell atties on this thread.

But then again, what does a flightless bird know?

Oh yeah yeah I know. I'm bringing that up as a suggestion; in the event that dusty comes back to say that we still can't sell it on the classies, it would be nice to negotiate a swap kinda thing on the thread minimally.

I'm gonna play devils advocate for a minute. This thread is Tom's storefront for the most part. He pays for this space to advertise and sell his products. To ask him to sell your used attys here would be akin to asking rob if you could sell your used reo on his website. Sometimes we all forget that we are guests in Tom's house here. I say kudos to him for trying to make everyone happy but we need to respect his space.

Yeah. But I think it's so silly.

In any case like someone else mentioned, it's probably a good thing; we don't wanna clutter this thread up. As it is its alrdy pretty hard to keep up on deals and stocks with our chatter

I would gladly pay the money but there is a waiting list for a "Big Boy" forum like ReoMods has. As I recall VPX was warned a few times if they didn't get their traffic up the would lose their forum. While I have the traffic without a doubt the waiting list would be a killer. Maybe I should look into that.

I'm actually fine with trading my attys on here. ECF isn't fond of the idea however. I'm pretty easy to get along with and I have very few entries in the complaint box. Actually I have 2, both my fault, both I tried to correct. Neither would listen to reason. I'm easy to work with until you try to bully me, then the gloves come off. Remember "PC"? We can work it out just don't ask for the impossible and beyond all don't try to strong arm me; I'm not the one! I can't tell you how many free attys I have given away to make a problem right and more often than not it wasn't my fault to begin with but I have to look in the mirror everyday.

I wouldn't pay the money. I think you are not making as much as you deserve to begin with. You don't just drill holes, you analyze, you testt and judge which manufacturer gives you and us the best price. Keep it small you are doing a great job.

Honestly for what I pay I'm more than happy with the service they provide. Once I hit the 1 year mark in April I will ask about moving to a bigger office.
I do have the option of running two threads at a time but I'm not sure I have it in me... I sleep 12 hours a week most weeks. Let that sink in......

It's not about the money, and/or the forum guys.. let's get that straight right off the bat. Even if Tom went through all the motions of getting his own Sub (and it's not easy!), it's about the fact that the atties being used fall under the "Counterfeit" umbrella that is the main issue here.

So, yeah, as we already suspected the Classifieds Admin also said no to trading/selling on the Classifieds. Here's the explanation for it, and hopefully makes it clear just why the products can't be moved via the Classifieds section.

"If the device is a clone, then that is acceptable. If the devices are counterfeit (contains trademarks or unique features of the copied product) then even the modification will not make these acceptable. The thing we are most against is when these counterfeiters use the popularity of a product and copy certain aspects to increase their sales. So basically the same guidelines we have in place would still apply. Otherwise, members might just engrave something different alongside other details and say "I modified it so it's ok". Our goal is to make counterfeit products less desirable so members might be discouraged to buy them and if we allowed the Catfish modified atties, it would actually in a sense be promoting the counterfeits."

The money only stings once a year... Imagine a thread for each atty and a locked thread with stock updates...

Dusty: while you're in the building so to speak; could you send me the info to the requirements to become a registered supplier? As I i mentioned it's my understanding that the waiting list is long. I would like to get the ball rolling in that direction.

eta: I realize I'm already a Registered Supplier-Offline. I'm looking to take the next step.
