Problem with CDC is they still think the absence of seat belts and helmets are a disease. They need to re calibrate before getting into stuff they don't understand.
The CDC is producing some weird and inconsistent data to back up its claims. They ARE apparently finding teens that are adulterating vape juice or buying black market ejuice which has been adulterated. Apparently well over 100% of their samples in fact. This seems to be the evidence they are using to demand that unadulterated products be stopped.
How is it possible to be well over 100% of their samples? 100% means all of the samples unless I am misunderstanding this.
The news media is going crazy. A teen in Texas was just hospitalized after taking one hit. They, of course, are focusing on VAPING; not what the kid was vaping. This was one headline that at least told the truth.

very. It can be done though. It’s expensive, time consuming and requires expert technical skills. The family of devices involved are called chromatographs.I just heard this story. The gal that supplied him with the vape went back and sat down in the classroom and authorities took her into custody.
Now how difficult is it to take that vape pen (or whatever it was, and have the contents analyzed.
which devices? This can't be the first time that the devices were available for testing.
should, sure. It can get more complicated in practiceIf authorities are trying to get to the bottom of what's happening, they certainly should have a pretty good idea of what is going on.
Yeah, it seems like it’s a problem.I'm over 10 years of vaping and 1. I vape a ton less than I ever smoked for 43 years (2.5 PAD) and I've never had any bad experience. There are a lot of stuff out there meant to get you high that have nothing to do with vaping nicotine and it would be nice if our bureaucrats would stop their demonization of nicotine vaping products.
I have wondered about the timing of all this. There was nothing for years then “boom”. something must have changedExperts Have A Few Different Theories For What’s Behind The Outbreak Of Vaping Illnesses

One explanation for the onset of the vaping illness outbreak this year is the Trump administration’s April imposition of 25% tariffs on goods from China, suggested vape device importer KushCo’s Kovacevich, echoing a complaint made by his industry about the ongoing trade war for more than a year. That’s because China is where most vaporizers, cartridges, and other e-cigarette parts are made.
The economics are simple, he said, when a premium e-cigarette cartridge suddenly costs $2.50, but a cheap one that might expose users to shoddier material in the body of devices and uneven combustion temperatures only costs $1.25. “People will go with what is cheaper if the price difference is suddenly a lot bigger.”
With an added tariff, it’s possible that vapers have turned to more dubious home brews and less safe devices, he suggested. “The labs we use are inspected and use best manufacturing processes,” he said. “We are competing with chop shop factories in China knocking off branded counterfeits that say XYZ company on the package but are not really affiliated, and who knows what they are getting.”
Is it just me or did anyone else read that article and think, hmmm, did they just tie in DEVICES (hardware) as being responsible for the damage caused by inhaling oil?Experts Have A Few Different Theories For What’s Behind The Outbreak Of Vaping Illnesses

Yeah, it seems like it’s a problem.
They tried. There is some extremely weak stuff they might be alluding to. Some pod systems use very old fashioned tech that was abandoned by the e-cigarette industry years ago but has inexplicably come back in pods. Specifically silica wicks. There is strong evidence that this is an unlikely issue but it may be enough to allow someone to make that connection even if they know it will fall apart upon scrutiny. Is it just me or did anyone else read that article and think, hmmm, did they just tie in DEVICES (hardware) as being responsible for the damage caused by inhaling oil?
Besides chromatographs, there certainly are autopsies being administered and information provided by those that have gotten sick. The authorities have to have more information to provide above the generic message to just not vape.
