Hi. I just got a bunch of CE2 cartos and they all have this horrible chemical taste to them. I can't seem to get rid of it no matter what I try. I've tried the "frayed edges mod', the 'tea bag mod' and even dry burning but nothing helps. Is there anything I can do to fix them (the ones I've already filled) or prepare the empty non-filled ones so that taste will go away? I'm so discouraged. :( Any advice would be great. Thank you.

I'm pretty new here, but I have several dozen of the CE2 R4's. They're a crapshoot. The only 2 things I can see that I do that you didn't is let them soak in grain alcohol (*not* isopropyl) overnight, then boil them. That almost always does it for me. When you clean them (after every 3-4 refills) overnight in alcohol and boil 'em again. They're high maintenance, that's for sure.

I have to agree with passerbyeus even though I use them most of the time because when they work I am in vapors heaven. You can try dry burning the ones you haven't used and that may work. Also take one you have cleaned and not used and try dripping in and see if you get a burn't taste. If there's no burn't taste you can always use them for dripping. I do a lot of that with these. Great for trying new flavors. I also fluff out the wicks but that is the extent of my mods.

Sorry you're having this problem, Brad. I know exactly how you feel since these were a crap shoot for me at first. Either they worked great straight out of the package or I got the worst kind of, I guess, 'wick' taste ever. Now I get consistently good vapes with them and I wish I could tell you why that is. Maybe it's because I know I'm actually filling them up now and I remove all the caps...? Before the clearomizers I was quesstimating how full they were and I wasn't even close.

What's your voltage with the CE2's? Try dry burning, as Traver suggests, and then putting a drop of your eliquid directly on the visible coil.

I take the third and final cap off and if I feel like it, pull out the wicks of the non-clear cartos to run them under boiling water in case there's any primer on them or I pop the tube off a clearomizer, wash the wick and put the tube back on. The wicks dry quickly if you blot them with paper towels. I dry burn a few times or until any wisp of vapor is gone. Then I fill them up with a syringe or by pouring juice down the inside of the tube, replace that first inside ring if I can find it, put that ridiculous top on it and vape away. No burned taste at all.

Yesterday on YouTube I saw where someone cuts the wicks and unwinds them (so they look like hair in your juice) and says he can vape at 6v. I vaped with one like that at 5v today but found it unnecessary to increase voltage to get warm vapor. I prefer the 2.4 to 2.6 ohms for warm vapor on my 18650's. No muss, no fuss and long battery life.

Good luck! Don't give up! It was worth the effort, imo.

The last time I ordered 10 Xls five worked and the other five just wouldn't wick and wound up with a burnt taste. I soaked the five in isopropyl alcohol for a few days the burnt them. They still wouldn't wick. so removed all the caps and fluffed the wicks a bit with a tweezer then used them for dripping for a while. Since I don't have to worry about how much liquid I put in them for dripping they eventually started to fill up and I noticed that for some reason unknown to me they started to work like they should. Now I can fill them and they just work.

Try a syringe tube mod. To me, just a straight CE2 won't do...oh btw i do have something I sketched earlier to promote my stuff to a retailer here...I've also included what they look like. Don't give up just yet, you're just a notch away to find the perfect vape...And btw, try something in the range of 2.8-3.0 ohms for Ego, they work perfect with mine. Also note that juices that are sweetened tend to gunk up quicker(i.e. blackened the wick). This is when you should clean the CE2...from my experience, the first 5-10 drags will have some burnt taste after you clean them, but it'll go away past that point until you need cleaning again...

Check this thread for how to: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...inted-ce2-try.html?highlight=disappointed+ce2

Do clean them the way I describe before you even use them...
