Ive been using regular grain alcohol. it was tasting burnt so i soaked it alcohol like usual except this time it turned milky white. i thought the +'s were made from polyethylene. isn't that supposed to be unreactive? i felt the mouth piece and it was soft on the outside, like wtf. anyone have problems with alcohol melting ce4+'s? its a month old but regardless. I understand age might affect its physical integrity but I didn't think chemical integrity would be affected by age the same way...help anyone?sorry for the lack of punctuation. typing on a phone is a pain in the taint. :p

From what I understand, it can't be polyethylene if it's not at least a smidgen cloudy. I think the newer versions of the CE4s are just made with a "better quality" polypropylene (is that the right word?).

So, you normally clean with ethanol, but used IPA this time & it got soft/cloudy?

I was wondering if it was some kind of reaction between whatever juice was in there that you were cleaning out mixed with the IPA that caused the reaction?

But yeah, afaik, the newer ones aren't 'meltproof', just less likely to do so.

There are a lot of CE4's out there, all kinds of colors, all kinds of derivatives, and they are sure to be made by a lot of different little Chinese factories. Even if they look alike, remember that many of them are simply look-alikes of another, often indistinguishable. It is entirely possible (probable) that one may have a problem, another person may not, depending on who made the device and the quality/types of materials used. When cleaning any plastic with alcohol, it is always best to use an alcohol that is consumable; you may even want a little sip while doing your cleaning chores :) Some other types of alcohols may be very rough and damaging to plastics, and to your digestive system.
