Certain juices get really dark, really fast in tanks?

I have really noticed my Vapetrik liquids go from a really light color to dark brown very quickly. the flavor did not seem to be affected at first, but then it started tasting a bit burnt. (This was in an iclear 16) so I changed the coil head and changed out the liquid as well. The same thing happened again. Just wondering if this is common with certain liquids?

I use a stock EVOD

My locally bought mint flavored juice did that after a few days in the tank.

I found out that if I leave the remaining darkened juice in the tank before filling it up it will "contaminate" the new juice and do it a lot quicker.

I used to just top it off and never really let the tank go empty, which increased the issue.

So now I vape it empty, run the clearo under tap water to rinse all the yellowing juice residue and fill it up.

Some liquids darken rather quickly when heated. I have some that do, some that don't. As long as the juice doesn't TASTE burnt, then it's nothing to worry about, in my opinion.

tyoung: I have noticed that with a few. "Nanny's Nanner Puddin" by Gumpysesauce (very yummy) really does that. But it seems to take a long time before the flavor is affected and even then it just loses some of the taste...the aroma and sweetness gradually dissipate. Much like hop aroma in a dry-hopped...uh...sorry, enough of my home brewing analogies already! But yeah, some get funky. Diane of MyVapeJuice says she routinely tosses her personal juice and DIY flavoring after a year (and the stuff she sells well before that). Probably not a bad guideline.

And, like someone just now said (sorry, can't see the name on my phone now), leaving dark and flavor-affected juice in the tank then topping off just causes the fresher juice to inherit the problem. Better to wash it out and start fresh. Might even keep an atomizer from getting all gunky.

Yes

It is believed that the sweeteners are "caramelizing" from the heat of the coil
The caramelized juice is still on the wick, it sounds like its building up changing the flavor.
In my personal experience watermelon flavors have been the worst offenders, though not all of them but I try to avoid watermelons, but I tend to get suckered into every watermelon/menthol.

Nicotine darkens as it is exposed to light. A higher nic juice will definately darken with age.

I use iClear 16's quite a bit and some juices do get darker pretty easy. Had to toss some 15 Foot Falls from AiV because it turned black and gunked up the coil real bad. Made me sad. Should have cleaned it way before though. I have another juice that is clear but turns brown after an hour in an iClear 16. Black after a couple hours. Pretty much pointless to put it in that tank.

Good points here. I will clean out the tank better, and will also try a bottom coil tank and see if that helps.

There are some certain ingredients which do this, both changing the color and flavor of the juice as it is heated. The primary culprits are caramel flavoring and sweetener, but I don't think that is a general rule. I think some ingredients can handle the heat while others cannot. I wish vendors would pinpoint these ingredients and find replacements which don't burn... It is really annoying to like a juice for the first 1/4 tank and that's it.

My advice is to only buy easily burnt juices once. Perhaps we should make a list of these known gunkers (maybe one already exists).

I've noticed this with some cappuccino juice I bought yesterday. It still tastes fine, but is completely black now.. I did refill it before emptying the tank, so I'm sure this contributed to the issue.

I just started last week, and my other juices (all fruit flavors) seem to be fine.
