I am still relatively new to vaping, and while learning, to be honest, I often find my overwhelmed at the plethora of information out there. I refer to it as my "vaping ADD", when I start out on my quest for knowledge of coil building, out of no where find myself reading on battery safety or random reviews on the latest and greatest, etc.

I have moved away from the convenience of tanks, as I burn through the coils between 4-10 hours depending on what tank I'm using. Too expensive for my taste. My current set up is a Sigelei 150-TC with a Temple Mini RDA. I vape on completely clear juice, free of sweetener, at 3mg. Coils preferred at .2 - .3 ohms, and run my rig between 75-90 watts. I burn through approximately 150ml (5oz.) per week. Battery-wise, I stick to Sony VTC5's and LG HG2s; I go through 2-3 pair per day. Since the new regulations, I have been purchasing prebuilt coils of the Fused Clapton variety (in lieu of shop builds, which would last me approximately 2-3 weeks), which seem to last me good about a week, maybe a week and a half, before they get so tweaked out that even cleaning doesn't seem to help, be it a dry burn or a full clean. I change my wick daily, I use either organic cotton balls or cellucotton. I clean my coils at least every other day if not every.

I've been trying my hand at building, using 22g premium Kanthal A-1, but as suspected, the arthritis thus far is making it a less than successful venture. The coils start off good, but don't seem to hold up in the long run. I'm not sure if my chain vaping is effecting the gauge, or if I just can't get my wraps tight enough. Some of them "fold up" at first fire, others start off rockin strong, but still only seem to be holding up about a week. I'm sure I'm missing something in the equation somewhere.

Anyway, in the closing of my book, I appreciate your time and thank you in advance for any advice you may be able to assist me with. Have a great week!

Keep up the research! You can never have too much knowledge about safety. I've never burned through a coil that fast unless the coil was poorly made (watch out pre-made coils). It could also be that when you are dry burning, you're heating the coil way too hot. Once metal is sent past cherry red, it wont hold up to what we ask it to do, it changes on a molecular level. When dry burning, try getting it to barely glow by doing small pulses at half the watts you normally use rather than just blasting the coil with massive amounts of heat. Then strum the coil with ceramic tweezers (or metal ones that don't touch the coil when your pulsing). If using ceramic tweezers, you can lightly squeeze the coil when its heating up to get those wraps closer but I think my claptons last longer when the wraps don't touch.

Check out the geekvape eagle tank. It's an rta with pre-built coils but there's a catch. The coils are made to be super easy to re-wick and clean. There's about 10 different styles of coil so you'll def find one you like. You can get two coils at 7$ , at a week and half per coil 3.50$ isn't shabby.

Here's a pic of one of the coils so you get the idea. Hope that helps!
