Changing flavors in a carto tank?

You can do either.
It depends upon how similar the flavors are to each other. For instance, I might have an Apple flavor in a cartotank and wish to switch to another fruit flavor such as Pear or Peach. You could remove the remaining Apple flavor and then add the new fruit flavor. They are similar enough that any blending of the two flavors initially would not be disgusting.
However, if you had two entirely different flavors, such as Peppermint and wanted to switch to a Coffee or Tobacco flavor, the stronger mint flavor might carry holdover flavor that would not be pleasing. Best to clean the tank and use a new carto in this situation.
