I think you hit the nail, Nate. They're subscribing Chantix, now dual Chantix, as a one size fits all. I was lucky, with getting Paxil, and even that could have had dire effects, as many others discovered. You and the sailor are lucky that the wall and your hand (ouch!) were the only victims. That was a close call!

Rosa, and the dead can't argue back. Bingo!

Never mind those.
They will be smoking tobacco again in no time.
In my home forum, this has happened again and again. Any new vaper who persistently ignored the advice of experienced vapers and tried to drop their nic level too fast - they all disappeared from the forum within a few weeks.
Some of them had the courage to return, after a few months or even a year, and to say "You were right. I dropped my nic content too fast. I realize now that nicotine is not the enemy. I will give it another try."

But most of those people who loudly claimed "I smoked for 35 years. Now I have switched to vaping and now I will drop my nic level to 0 within 3 weeks! I know better than all of you!" .. they disappeared after a few weeks. Never to be seen on the vaping forum again.

And... if they had really made it... would you not think that they would have returned to gloat? ;)

Naaww... never mind those who have just started vaping and already "know everything better". Either they listen to experienced vapers - or they will fail and never make the transition vaping. Most of those will smoke again within a few weeks. And they have nobody but themselves to blame.

Just remember: You smoke for the nicotine. You die from the tar.

Well... here is something that most people (especially the ANTZ) do not understand:

The purpose of quitting nicotine is to keep you away from inhaling burning tobacco. NOT the other way around.
We do not quit inhaling carcinogens in order to rid ourselves of nicotine.

Pharmaceutical grade nicotine is probably a safer chemical than most of the drugs they want to prescribe to get you off of it. The only reason to make people get off nicotine is to prevent them from relapsing back to smoking. If people can using vaping or any of the NRTs to prevent them smoking, the goal is met.

This is why some people are addict shaming vapers, they don't understand the real issue, and they need to shut their pie-holes.

Silence is golden... duct tape is silver, right?

Here's a true story... value it as you will.

I started taking Wellbutrin soon after it was introduced to the market. It actually worked pretty well for depression and host of other things, but...

Doctor: Any side effects?

Me: Yeah... but it's a strange one. I noticed last night that I only smoked two cigarettes all day instead of two packs. And it seems like the carton I bought awhile back has lasted a long time.

Doctor: You know, another patient mentioned that to me. I'm going to report it to the FDA and the manufacturer.

Ultimately, the effect faded away.... maybe even because I became aware of it.

Anyway, wellbutrin was always a funny drug... it was often hard to tell what was a "benefit" and what was a "side-effect."
